  • I don't think I can play until...

    bioware fixes stealth.

Today I was in the caves sneaking around, when I saw a party killing the goblins chief. Being the mighty rogue I was I went and pickpocketed three of them. I succeeded on all counts, but a halfling saw his arrows vanish and that was bad for me. If they didn't see I wouldn't have gotten into the interesting roleplay experience at the gates I'm sure some of you saw. But still I rather able to sneak around.

This brings up a good PvP question...

Let's say my fighter gets pick pocketed by said rogue.
I then become aware that an item I want back has been lifted by a 3rd party.
Fighter demands item back... refused by rogue.
Fighter chops rouge to little pieces... but still is unable to get item back in PvP.

Does the fighter stand any chance of getting the item back, or is the thief just killed on sight from then on? Have any site rules been put in place to address this?

One last point can rogues lift items in non-PvP areas?

On a side note... I won't be letting any suspected rogues within arm shot of my character from now on.

If you ask me, that brings up another question..what items can a rogue pick pocket? I just can't see how a thief can steal a full plate or something as big...

Pick pocketing is and always has been a problematic thing. From the discussions I have read on the forums, it seems the majority of the player base is very mature so an agreement should come quickly I hope

      Sorry for derailing the topic.

Isn't there other ways of playing the rogue for the moment? Can't he offer his help as a scout or such, for an outrageous sum or something...and also gives him possibilities for future stealing You know, getting close to the mark

Thats fine. And if you ask me if you kill the thief and he doesn't give the stuff back he is being a bad player.

I agree whole heartedly with this.

Remember, you notice the item missing does NOT mean you noticed it being taken. A person is more likely to believe they dropped something before they believe someone took it.

Really its Obsidian's job now, but yeah, Hide-MoveS. ppl get the shaft .
Its like no matter how high your H/M is, everyone sees you, including enemies most of the time. Its retarded in my opinion, it also ruins character ideas...

Full plate armor? 50 stones is a lot of weight.

Isnt the sleight of hand made versus a spot check?

It would make sense that the heaviest thing you could steal was how much you beat the spot dc by.... but thats just a suggestion
Heh, i guess my characters are deleted, now. Updating char list soon!

Another question though.. when your character was hiding in shadows or moving silently.. and knowing that they may not see you cause the system is bugged.. did you have them roll? maybe roll spot or listen checks?

Did one of the characters have a good enough spot skill or listen skill to see you sneaking up?

I know that everyone see's the hiding and moving silently people, prehaps if the difficulty was set to hardest that might help, also Pick Pocketing, is something i completely disagree with,

but npc's dont see Tina and she has a hide and move silently of 10.

If I was told or noticed something of mine was missing and there was a seedy looking character with a fat sack or backpack... I'd be all over him and asking questions later. But that's just my character.

But your character might not know right away that it's missing as soon as it's taken. That's the point of Pickpocket. If it didn't give you that message, you wouldn't know until you opened you bag, right?

Don't really like pick pocket either but do hope hide and move silently is fixed. From my experience people get OOC upset about loosing a cherished item so ruins their experience. Though be better if their was a way to protect certain things from getting stolen.
