Many troubles with crashing and logging in tonight.

I have been experiencing major trouble with crashes that seem like transition crashes but occur while not transitioning. When i return to log in, it is stuck on loading module. To fix it i need to log into another character, and relog on the original character. I have changed nothing, i have alll the updates and it is only happening tonight. Any ideas on whats happening tonight?

Server hiccups - March 05 2009

Things have been especially bad today with being online on the Sundren server. People have been 'lagging out' on a very frequent basis while Sundren - from the server lobby - shows a rather solid ping rate.

Something's obviously up. I thought I'd break the silence and point it out. Maybe Saulus wasn't aware and that if he sees this thread, he'll be able to check and figure out what's wrong?\

I would imagine it would have to do with people not having their sundren files fully updated. At least that's what i am figuring.

I updated all today again due the new UI, when I logged first and we were a few, there wasn't lag.

While there is still strong lag, the update did help a whole lot...

Did the update too. The lag is less frequent, but the freezes are still on a fairly frequent basis.

All things considered... I think I've had more log-ins today than I've had in the last two weeks. ^_^;

(come to think of it, Cornuto, I'm not sure the threads were that similar all things considered, to the problem many of us have been having today... but, oh well...)

The server reset from yesterday made things better for about an hour, then things started going downhill again.

This is the case right now as well. For a few, they sometimes have 5 to 20 minutes of game time (longer being the exception, not the norm). Still not clue as to what this is, but this is clearly widespread (though some players do seem to have it happen to them much less frequently).

I'm watching the server sitting at about 50% usage across the board... system resources and bandwidth. There is nothing going on other than NWN2's shitty network stack, and client-side issues. The problem here is one person cries wolf and suddenly everyone thinks they have a problem.

Other than that, if NWN2's patch made something worse... please by all means take it to their boards... absolutely nothing I can do for a problem that for all intents and purposes doesn't exist on my end.

Just a quick update for folks:

The dev team thinks they've pinpointed the issue. There was an undocumented change with the latest patch that had some unintended consequences. The team is addressing that as we speak and hopes to find a solution soon.

For now, please avoid large parties and using your character sheet.

If you need to level up, a good trick is to:
1) Open the character sheet.
2) Quickly click Level Up.
3) VERY quickly hit the ESC key to close the character sheet before you reach the level up screen.
This should prevent people from lagging out while leveling up.

Horray! Looks like the dev team solved it. Character sheet doesn't lag out anymore.
