Ok, are torches broken or am I just stupid? I've bought three different torches and non work. Just a non-burning stick. I tried using flint on them as that seemed logical. Nothing. I even tried alchemist's fire. Still nothing.

Please tell me what I am missing before I just set my head on fire and use that for light...

None of the storebought ones on Sundren seem to work.

Looted ones work fine, I've seen a few looted from Spittlefist that worked A-Okay.

I finally found a glittering necklace at Sundren Comfort. That'll do for now, plus I can still use my shield in my off hand. Thanks for clearing that up for me though, was driving me crazy.

The "Shiny Chainmail" does not work either, I had a torch that worked for a while (but then it stopped) I can not remember if it was loot or store bought, but none of the store bought ones (4) from 2 different stores worked either.

Why not just take some spellcasting levels, light is a cantrip -.-

I took a level or two of bard with my evil fighter just to flesh him out with some singing material (and the prereq 5 hide for blackguard, shhh!). Never hurts to have a few levels in something else to mix it up, hell drizzt has less ranger levels than my PC

That's a good suggestion Thief, but not everyone wants to take a class of this and a class of that to make lights, pick the occasional lock or do a power attack. . If you have a monk for example, I think it's one of the hardest classes to play in a low magic setting, with difficult foes, you need all those monk levels at higher levels.

I wasnt surgestioning you take your monk off the path of contemplation.

Lots of characters have many facets; A cleric of Cyric being a spreader of lies and misery might have rogue levels, a Paladin of mystra might have sorceror levels or even be a sorceror primarily. arcane archers are normally multiclassed, and arcane tricksters always multiclass unless their primary class grants both sneak attack and arcane casting.

Some classes multiclass good, others well... are monks

Of course you could always buy a ring of light from the keeper at the druid glade, mwaha!
