  • Loot

I have seen several ways to treat loot as its dropped, on different PW's.

    1. going by alphabet everyone takes what is dropped as its dropped. If something many folks like is found dice is rolled and winner gets item and looses next turn.

    2. Roll dice and go in that order.

    3. Everyone grabs things then after the hunt they go in order to see who wants what, taking turns.

    4. Need over greed, if someone can use it they get it, other wise just gets tossed into the to be sold group.

    5. As gold is aquired by chest it gets split amongst group.

    6. Mad grab, take what you can when you can you get it you got it.

    7. If something intresting folks roll for it until everyone in the group has aquired something that person does not get to roll again.

what is the rules on loot drops? and are ther other ways to do the pick up (not asking scripting more of player IG ideas).

There are no rules regarding loot drops unless you delve into the realm of ninja looting, which is explained and defined in the wiki. Hopefully after that, people can just share responsibly

I too fit in that boat of typically not gettng loot unless I just dive on it. I really don't mind seeing I get gold/xp and fun. Though if a signus or gem popped up would be kinda sad not a roll of dice or nothing.

        SERVER RULES:

        Ninja Looting
Ninja looting is defined as following someone else, letting them fight in combat while you pick up all loot right under their nose, keeping it for yourself. This will cost heavy XP deductions if anyone is caught doing so.

        ----

Which is just a nice way of saying "don't be an ass ooc and not share the wealth".

People teach me new things like taking gold and just splitting what I find right there and then.

Or two nights ago when just two charactors one bluffed my charactor that he found nothing, and failed. Though my charactor succeded in bluffing that the other chest were empty as well..haha. I don't care who got more gold there was fun.

Wasn't hoping to create a rant or complain thread more to give suggestions and get more ideas.

The only thing I want to add, beyond what is detailed in ninja looting, is that Sundren does NOT support any player rules about gems on bosses. That is a player consideration, and you can follow it if you like. But the only thing on a boss kill that goes to the quest owner by Sundren RULES is the quest piece.

            My personal opinion:

            Need vs Greed

On Single Need Gear/Quest mob: Needer gets it
On multiple Need Gear/quest mobs: Roll dice
On Greed: first come first served
On Chests: Character dependent. Some split, others keep. Whoever has the ability to pick locks pretty much has free reign on what they do with it.

If I'm a new character and someone grabs up all the goodies of the chief we just did the quest for and then goes, there you are, have the head i'll keep the magic weapons and expensive gem

              1. I'll stab them
              2. I'll kick the stupid chief in the head and go, "hmm it's not him, this must be the other chief" and come back and get him later with someone who is not a total buttwipe.
              3. I might stab them again, but it depends how much they deserve it.

In general I think most players let the person who is there for the quest have the body and it's contents and then if they want to share some out then that is fine. Theoretically, most times you accompany someone to do a quest it's a case of this being their job, they are taking you as help. They are in authority here and should preferably be the 'party leader'

If you are a good guy you might be there out of the goodness of your heart and if you are a bad guy perhaps you might want to agree on a fee before you help out? Neutral people... heck I dunno.

Some people do just jump on the loot even if the head of a specific spawn is needed by someone else. So why did they jump on the spawn and stip it clean first? Oh... that would be... umm mm MM META! Yes they know there is going to be certain itgems on a given spawn and of course even though the quest is not theirs they jump on the boss cos they want his valuable stuff. The same meta is why they leave the head behind, cos they know they will not be able to put it down afterwards.

Sorry if it's a bit mean but that is my take.

Regarding l00t in general I've always been a fan of pick up loot as your PC would do it. Perhaps you search only your fair share of things kiled by the party, perhaps you front line and seem to get the knife in more and therefore snatch up more than your share, perhaps you are a goodly sort and share it out later perhaps you are not and keep hold of it a bit.

Perhaps you are not so forceful and you watch allt he others pick up loot and go unrewarded, perhaps you watch someone greedy pick everything up and then you kick their ass and make them give it to you whilst in -hp state under the threat of visiting the forest of eternal night.

We dealth with a Ninja looter on another server is such a way. It was handled all very ICly. One person stood up and said something IC and the rest ganged around and the person had to find a RP excuse for his actions. So he RPed being a greedy self inflated git and got his teeth knocked out and his inventory shared around.

If your a skank/(rogue/thief/sneaky little bugger) get your fingers in their pockets. You want your share without a fight, end of story.

Let loot be a source of RP, not something we all get discontent about and feel socially awkward talking about.

I 'ninja' looted once (intending to give it back once I was found out). The fact that I had X move silently and pickpocket counted for nothing and I was strung up as a 'player' rather than the thief character I was playing...

I hate it when people take RP to heart and its like a grudge vendetta against the player, same goes for PvP really. I think there has been enough of these copycat topics by now that boil down to ground we have already covered hmmm?

*note that I fully intended to give the heavy armour back (thieves cant wear it after all)*

The only situation that burns me about boss looting is when its a new player, and a senior player, or at least a person who is aware that gems are worth 9k+ each. And will loot the item and then ask the poor newby IC (or not even ask at all), Oh here, mind if I take this? knowing that the new player is unaware.

I always take it into my own hands to try to oocly or otherwise inform the new player the value of the gem that they likely think is only a few hundred stags is about to be lost to them. I know this probably isn't Sundren enforced, or endorsed, but I really don't feel right letting those who are informed either from postings, etc take advantage of newbs. If they wanna roll a bluff/appraise or rp the slight of hand properly then it can be handled IC, but I like to try to at least offer some help to those less informed.

I had no idea whatsoever they were worth that much; I didn't know they had to do with enchanting, I just thought they were gems. *shrug* So I agree those in the know owe it to new players to let them know before they just give them away.

Oh dear, this thread has turned into yet another discussion of boss loot drops. The initial question has been answered.
