Divination Concept

So, if got a concept for an alt char.
She's a sun elf diviner and follower of Kelemvor and thus Lawful neutral.
Stats:
8 STR
8 DEX
6 CON
20 INT
16 WIS
14 CHA

Explanation for the Stats: Because of an accident that happend during her apprenticeship she was severely and still suffers from it and has health problems ever since.
Because of that weakness, she concentrated completely on the Art of Divining.(Hence, specialization, spell focus and greater spell focus in divining)

May question is now, do you think this character has a place in Sundren and her services would be of some us?

Sounds like it to me. There are house rules in place for scrying and a Diviner could drum up a lot of business for people who need to find someone or something.

atleast the str is not six that makes it almost impossible.

That is strictly from a combat view. RP wise its all a matter of answering one question.

IMO, it would be great RP to have a diviner around during some events; however, it seems that it would rely heavily on DM involvement and the agreement of the DM to give you certain information that you normally would not have.

Although, if you can work something out ahead of time, maybe you could do some services for adventurers - not sure how it would work out, because in game there are no mechanics that would work with your powers.

One thing you could do during RP or just player to player rp is to send a tell, tell them who you are and you want to do a bit of divining rp, and then ask them something about their character and where they are going. Then in game/RP you coudl divulge that information to them.....as if you divined it.

Indeed. And she has a broad coverage of skills including the knowledge skills and Decipher Script, although not very high at the moment cause she's just Level 3

Sounds like a fine concept. The element that has me stagger to a stop is the diety choice.

Why Kelemvor and not the elven pantheon equivalent, Sehanine Moonbow? Heck, Sehanine even stands as a patron of diviners; one of her title is the 'Mystic Seer' and she also stands as the elf goddess of death and transcendence.

The DC's for scrying are ridiculous.

More like they are strongly bonus oriented. It makes the d20 roll much less pivotal to the success of a divination spell.

Not at all, it makes the things you want to do about 4-5 levels appart, the D20 roll is still a large part of anything risky you want to do.

Having played a Diviner, who specialized in divination, spellcraft, and high intelligence, I can say I wouldn't even be attempting the higher-end DC's without favorable conditions until epic. . . That's with the Specialist school; Divination and both Spellfocus feats. Which in itself is character-gimping, add onto the fact that the character lost DM support not long after creation, and suddenly she couldn't grind either.

I will say this much though; RPing the knowiest know it all that ever knew it was boat-loads of fun.

It's actually a little munchkiny IMO. 6 CON is way low, but it still smacks of munckining toward a powerful arcanist / mystic theuge etc. Just my 2 CP

Nah cornelius just change up the stats, keep the 6 con but give yourself a 10 to str and dex, lower your wisdom to 12-13 and raise your CHA.

I like the concept and I wanted to try something similar to this.
