One other indirect advantage of having fewer players is that in the current version of nwn2, crashing while changing areas is linked to how close to capacity the server is.
Since the PW I rarely ever crash while zoning, whereas before it was getting so common as to be frustrating. Of course I think the server may run near to full even PW when the world is larger, but lets hope Obsidion fixes the problem by then.
Agreed with others though. Much better rp all around since the PW.

I tried Sundren when it was first opened. Really had a lot of bugs initially, as you all know, but the big thing that chased me off was the awful, awful powergaming / that was rampant.
I just posted my bio again because my friend has been in recently and said it made a HUGE difference to have your server passworded. She said there's lots of high quality RPers now. Kudos to you all for taking this extra step.

With the password on the ratio of complaints has changed quite a bit.
Before:
"Sundren has way too many powergamers, never playing here again!"
After:
Group 1: "Much better, Sundren has great roleplay"
Group 2: "I was going to try that Sundren server, but they put a stupid password and I'm not writing a bio, Sundren sucks".
Lesson: There is no making everyone happy. The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

True, if you're going to play on a roleplaying server, then you at least NEED to have some sort of background story in mind so you can actually react with the other players.
If you're too lazy to come up with a bio, then you shouldn't be playing on this server in the first place

"I have failed you once....I will not fail you again!"

I still see new people all the time and there are plenty of andventurers for me to meet, but they're all better RP'ers so its great!
Knowing that you have to go through the application process really deters the l4m3 p0\/\/3|2 g4|\/|1|\|g n3r|)5, so i've only seen a few on the server since.Heh, i guess my characters are deleted, now. Updating char list soon!

I just got admitted last night, and as a new player I think the password system works just fine. I got a response to my bio within a few hours of posting it, got help figuring out how to log in, and was able to explore the world a bit on the same day I applied.
If it took a week to get approved it might be more of a problem, but since the dev team and DMs are so responsive and helpful, I don't see any reason why there shouldn't be a password on the server. The content and community are of a high enough quality that it would be a shame to see it wasted by people who don't appreciate that hard work or what it was for in the first place.Arren E'Drien: Ranger champion of Selune

Well: My opinion was I preferred it before the password was introduced. Namely, I liked being able to play.
I kid I kid... I'll post something more constructive when the day comes when I have both the password and am on a computer capable of running NWN 2.

The enviroment has definitely changed for the better. I hardly see anyone running by without saying anything anymore. As for fewer players that has been increasing every day.Active Characters:
Tassafina Lightleaf - A little sneaky but not as sneaky as Ithil
Silivren Anar
Merka Gillina
Hideing outs:
Alyssa Swiftwing - Priestess of Yondalla
Ravenne Naur'Loki - Roar!

So I'm sure once the team catches up on all the applications it will start getting busy again.
