The Obsidian AI is responsible for the lag that some people experience.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

That is why Nata, under the influence of a confusion spell, could follow and attack Corvus the other night. I used the invisibility potion right in front of her. She followed me half way down the mountain, attacking me the whole time.

                  Back OT.

Hello again. New guy here. I got beat down in the sewer by a lizardman, which is fine, but the death took forever because he'd beat me down to negatives then stand and wait until I came back up with 1 HP. I think it took about 10 minutes all told. That's fine and all, but I'd rather he either (1) killed me and got it over with or (2) wandered away back to his spawn point after I went unconscious. One or the other, you know? Don't know if that's possible with the AI, tho.
"If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle." -- Frederick Douglass

Saulus has said something about reverting the AI for lowbie enemies didnt he?

Apparently it causes a lot of lag when in heavy combat; not sure if thats what the update was about.... or if its coming later

You know I rather liked the way SoZ did negative HP. I've always been annoyed by the fact that -10 HP becomes irrelevant and largely useless past say level 8ish, when enemies tend to start killing you outright instead of putting you to bleeding range. Having it the way SoZ did it would be a very nice change for the higher levels, so that death isn't virutally guaranteed.

hmm yeah that would be cool to have it like soz though that would be a LONG time to roll stablize. 100 hit point charactors say at -20 would have 30 rounds to roll the dc needed.

                        Still like the idea.

The death system is not going to be revised, and the topic of spawns having some strange allure back to their spawn point for no apparent reason has been discussed before as well. Sundren is optimised for party play. If you have a party, there should be someone at hand to stabilise you. Here's a tip:

                          Don't die.
Lorlen Locke: "Amazing how the righteous commit acts of tyranny and terror almost as beautiful as our own under their banner of "good". We merely call a spade a spade."

"If you can't learn to do something well, learn to enjoy doing it poorly."

Personally, I found SoZ handling of below zero hp to be quite refreshingly well thought of. D&D's standard system in a world with a somewhat merciful DM always watching won't make dumb luck alone kill you right away, because it's generally not fun. On a PW, without a DM on, it'd be nice to still have a chance to be healed by an ally after that unfortunate critical hit. SoZ's system actually supports party play, because there was no such thing as automatic stabilizing and once you're negative and without buddies, you're doomed.

Nevertheless, while I think it would be an improvement, Sundren's system is not broken and thus likely won't be 'fixed'.
