NO! We must have 1 hour and 59 minutes!!! Bahaha..

    Maleficus "Ravenor" Carnificis
"Dreams... such fertile ground for the seeds of torment. I can sense your ripeness and, oddly enough, it is time for the harvest. Please, save your tears... I intend to reap your sorrow slowly and have ages to discover the things that make you suffer... I am eager to revel in the sweet melody of your screams and the melancholy of your despair..."
    Eldraxus Tzyvioq

I think this is one of those ''what I think is fun'' debates. The RPers will throw the ''deal with it'' card. Others, not so much. I can relate that standing around and talking in town isn't always fun, but then neither is monster bashing. A mix of RP and action or Action RP makes the world go around!

The biggest reason this is all happening is because of limited areas right now.

So this rule will surely be laxed more and more as the server becomes bigger and more adventerous.

Its like we don't want anyone in the caves or any other place but since the areas are limited right now.. it seems like it.

Please, just a reminder that this is not the set server and it will only get more exiting and fun as the hard working build team gets more areas placed.

I actually see GodBeast's point crystal clear now, and this seems... really fair. Good call, man. I was worried this was done with different intentions in mind.

I dont even know how people can hang out in one place at once... doesnt it get boring running through the same thing over and over? It seems like everyone just wants to either be in virdale forest or sharan hills now, each time i go to Port, i find nothing in there.

One thing I enjoy doing is sitting atop that hill in Viridale Forest. It gives you an excellent view of the fort and road leading to it. I just like to sit up there and watch all the little people running around killing the gnolls and either doing the lather-rinse-repeat or running through, and then leaving the area.

If there is a large lapse where no one enters the fort, I usually make a run at it myself before heading back up to watch the next group go through. It's also a nice place to RP with others if they have the patience to sit there and watch.

Alright, I admit, I am slightly guilty of grinding yesterday in the caves, but that was only about an hour of time out of the four or so I spent online chatting with players and RP'ing around the rest of Sundren.

So, I will concede that grinding is a problem of mine, and therefore found GA meetings (Grinding Anonymous)

"My name is Draco, and I am guilty of grinding"

                *massive chorus* "Hello Draco"

But seriously, I understand the new rule, and will follow it wholeheartedly. However, I agree with the sentiment that the only reason this rule is needed is because there are so few areas to explore as far as combat is concerned. And yes, after a day of sending some spirits back to the Hells I do spend time in the more populated areas, i.e. the port. I run errands such as buying bandages, selling some scrolls to Aldrect, polish my armor, and more importantly, grab a drink =). So I think this problem will eventually solve itself, granting that a good amount of time passes.

Anyway, just my 1 and a half cents.

Heh, it's a public hill, anyone is welcome. Though the last archer that joined me up there couldn't resist dropping a few shots down at the gnolls in the fort. Was kinda funny to see the whol fort empty out just because one arrow was fired. Unfortunate for the PCs that were trying to enter it, they met the whole fort in one wave.

Now I haven't played the server yet but isnt it possible that you just don't have enough areas to explore at that certain level?

That is completely wrong. The only reason this rule is required is because people want to spend the entire day "exploring".

Even if we have 50 dungeons. Do you think I'd just let people grind in them all day as long as they rotated? Hmmm? Anyone?

Of course not. So is the problem with the server's zones? Or the fact players always want to be in them. I'd rather build a server full of zones that make sense from a storyline perspective than zones that are there just so people can reach level 20.

I think that this rule makes sense, it's a difficult balance to maintain between dungeon running and other activities when the primary XP source is from combat.

One thing, from just a few days on the server and some forum reading, the way the XP code is set up, it doesn't seem like the grind really serves to get you towards level 20 any faster if you do it constantly every day. If you can spend a few days just kicking around talking with people, doing some background role-playing about your character, and so forth then you'll be falling behind the XP curve which the code will help you catch up on.

And, one of the great things about having DMs around is that levels don't have to equal authority. If you can make a name for yourself, there's quite a bit you can accomplish even without stacking up the levels.
