Something that needs saying

I have just read Saulus' dev log and want to say:

Sundren is the best roleplaying server I have encountered for NWN2 - it has the most artistic maps, DM's who are active and players who roleplay.

It is sometimes easy to forget that the most voluble people are often the first to complain, whereas a lot of players enjoy the server but don't feed that back.

So, just so you are aware Saulus, 99% of the people I have met on your server have roleplayed, not been complainers, and added to my enjoyment of you people's hard work.

So thanks to them and you devs for that.

I think I PMed Saulus shortly after I saw his rather frustrated post on the Dev log. I think what you just said sums most of it up, Fizzer.

Do not let yourself be lead astray by those that just want to have 'their' kind of fun on this server. Roleplaying server is what you want it to be - see it through to the end and throw out that won't agree with this. This is your server, your work, your vision - go for it!

I applaud the work that has gone into this project.

It has to deal with impatience and difference in opinion, but even those who complain love it here, otherwise they wouldn't complain, they would just leave. While thats no valid justification of complaining, it's how I see complaining as a somewhat good thing too...

Of course you can complain and still love the server. We all have things we'd like to see done differently. You just have to stop complaining about the same thing which has been complained about 1000 times before... If that's what you do :P

Naw, i complain about every single thing, dont worry. Ive acutally just lets see... complained about the drops, like full plates dropping out, and level 9 and 8 scrolls dropping.. really crazy O_o.

For the whiners and complainers (non-constructive) best to ignore I have found. (they usually wander off if no one listens)

From previous experience, oft times they can and are the most vocal - as those enjoying the server and do not have issues are doing just that: enjoying the world the DEVs have created.

After reading that post, it doesn't seem like Sal like much of any thing other than a good lips to butt imprint. HE right off the bat dismisses any thing thats negative about the server. I admit its a well built server, i've had limited interaction with the community in game but Sal doesn't take negative feed back. That score on nwvault is meaningless. It doesn't reflect the hard work that he or his crew puts into it. Its a fine server, a little draconian and unbending. It's his sand box he can do what he wants.
He's the opposite of the coin, same deal just a different opinion. He acts, reacts and does all the things that he complains the others of doing but he refuses to even see it or reflect on it. He needs just as much growing up as the rest of us. Constantly just catering to your play base is bad just as blind devotion to your servers makers is just as bad or even worse.

If you want people to follow rules and you want people know what you want, you tell them. make it easy to find and make it to the point.
you guys complain about non role players or bad role players ect. Who is to say what is good, what is bad, you make those judgments based off of what? So when you don't like something or you don't get the approval/affirmation you seek, you raise you hands to the sky and start to pucker up. You know as well as I do that in the back of your mind your fretting that one day its gonna be you. Your going to have an off day, or your tired or what ever and your next, do you call that fun, I hope not.

This came off preachy and ranty, it's a mixed bag. On one hand I do enjoy the server for the most part. I would say 3 1/2 stars out of 5 for Sundren but you have to understand that there is all ways 2 sides of a coin, you might call this unfair, or uninformed, but it is my words and my ideas. When you put your self on a higher position due to "role playing" ability something is missing from the equation. Being a better role player means nothing. there is no such thing as better role player. You role play or you don't and if you role play than you shouldn't look down on those YOU feel aren't role playing or aren't up to "snuff". No more secret police with unknown motives for basically snitching or tattletaleing. Remember that the more you become complacent the more your power to defend your self is taken away from YOU.
As I write this I realize that, one this post will probably be deleted and the forum locked. Two, I will be more likely than not, banned. I if any thing would like to impart with you that you need to think for your selves, lighten up enjoy what your doing and share that with the community of NWN2 at large. Sundren is not a roleplaying server when its all said and done but a communal story that should be enjoyed by any one who wishes to help tell that story.

You seem to like insulting me while trying to compliment the server, are you worried a straight out insult might get some retaliation?

I hardly think I need to "grow up" and I certainly think you should be the last one to make such criticisms. I defend anything about Sundren that is INVALID. You claim otherwise, and yet you're not in a position to even understand anything that goes on. There is nothing draconian about getting rid of insulting, unthoughtful individuals who have decided to violate server rules more than once.

Just so everyone knows why Priest of Asmodeus insists on bashing Sundren I'll just tell everyone.

He was banned because he told DMs that we can't force him to roleplay. He decided he didn't want to roleplay on a roleplay server. Kind of an interesting concept, isn't it?

You can thank people with his attitude and actions for the recent application process. Though I suppose it's for the best. You won't get their negative attitudes on Sundren.
