  • Morale Bonus to AC

Anyone know how this works? I found a Divine Protection (Custom Level 2 Paladin Spell) dropped by a monster, so I read the description and thought it would be worth making a wand of it.

It cost me 3k, which I thought was worth the +1 AC morale bonus and +1 to saving throws to allies within 20' it promised me, so I then tried casting it on myself to see what happens :S

Unfortunately, my AC didn't change, but when I cast it on my summoned zombie, lo and behold, its AC increased by 1 (though again, mine remained unchanged).

So that leads me to ask, with what do AC morale bonuses stack/don't stack?

No idea, I thought the Bard's Inspire Defense was a morale bonus to AC which stacks with everything :S

      +1 Placebo effect?

I'm going to imagine it has to do with this "+1 AC morale bonus and +1 to saving throws to allies within 20' " AKA: everyone but the caster.

I had thought of that upon reading the post, though the OP stated that once he had casted it on his zombie, the zombie did in fact acquire the +1 AC, itself.

I'm willing to wager it follows the other rules of the current system. It will stack with anything but a greater bonus of the same type. So, it should stack with anything but a +2 or greater morale bonus spell, but it will effect only the casters allies and not the caster.

This is my theory..I'm too lazy to prove it, gogo do it for me.

If you took the (ridiculously overpowered) 'Luck of Heroes' background feat, it's likely not to stack with that. That's also a morale AC bonus..

                2 points:

Divine Protection says "to allies" implying it doesn't affect the caster.

Luck of Heroes is supposedly a luck bonus to AC. Meaning it should stack with everything, considering there are no other sources of luck bonuses.
