  • PVP Reminders

Based on recent events, I'd like to remind everyone of the following server rules:

    http://www.sundren.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5131
    • You must flag targets hostile before attacking.
"* Players MUST set the person they are attacking hostile. No exceptions. Because of engine mechanics, failure to do so may cause unfair advantages in combat. NOBODY is allowed to PVP without Hostile set."

    • Do not use OOC knowledge as an excuse to buff up.
This includes a hostile person who emotes something.
"* Players may not metagame previous warning. Like "This guy told me OOC he's going to get me so I'm going to buff up, or hide under a rock before hand". We DMs watch for that and you might lose RP exp on the spot "

    • Do not use OOC knowledge afterwards.
This includes the name over someone's head.

    • Memory loss
Be fair to the victor. Without permadeath, there is NO POINT in killing someone unless their memories are wiped. Unless you want the former, exercise the later.
"* If you die in combat where you enter the Forest of Eternal Nights, you have a memory loss based upon how you are returned to life:
Respawn or body brought to church: 15 Minutes
      Raise Dead: 10 Minutes
      Ressurrection: 5 Minutes
Players may ignore this memory loss if both parties agree to it. The purpose of this is so assassins and murders don't have their dead targets coming back and ratting them out."

    • If you are knocked out (subdual), you may not jump back into the fight after you heal up.
It's becoming apparent that some folks are not mature enough to handle Sundren's PVP. If you don't enjoy it, then play a PASSIVE character.

I'm not going to babysit anymore, and the solution will not be handing you a "get out of PVP" card. I'm up to my eyeballs in player requests, and sorting crap like this out is the last thing I want to spend my time doing.

Another minor point I want to make about subdual, with regards to a recent event:

If you want someone dead, kill them.
Subdual is not a tool to avoid XP loss. It is a roleplay tool used in fights where you don't really want to kill someone.

If you use subdual in PVP, there is no memory loss, and there is no guarantee that you can drag their body somewhere like jail. The DM staff will not support these kinds of situations. If you subdue someone and the recipient's view is different from yours of what happened, it's tough noogies.

Being good to someone OOCly doesn't mean you are being a good roleplayer. Use subdual when your character means to use it ICly.
