pvp Reminder to everyone

Just a heads up. I just got killed during pvp action. However my opponent didn't had 'subdual' on. THis means that I get into forest of eternal night.

Alright now fortunalety I was only about 50 mins away to gain lvl trough the 10mins gain 30xp thingy, otherwise I'd be pissed.

So when pvp, make sure you click on subdual first

Subdual in CvC is optional. That's why there's an option to 'toggle' it. Whether or not they use it is up to the player.

The only thing you really need to be sure of when CvCing someone is that it's not metagamed and that you always, always, always, toggle them hostile before hand.

What I mean by metagamed is, you can't openly CvC someone in the Trade Post, or the City of Sundren. There are guards everywhere, even if there isn't a DM around. They would stop you, and quickly.

PVP / CVC does NOT require you to flag anyone with subdual first. It is there if you don't mean to kill someone. Many people use it as a "nice guy" feature, sparing the other player XP loss even though their character may wish them dead.

Try to use roleplay in making this decision. Keep in mind, if you don't KILL someone, there is no guarantee of them having to enforce memory loss either. If an assassin puts on subdual and knocks their target out, they can get back up later and remember details about the attack. It doesn't always pay to be the nice guy, nor is it necessary .

It is also a good idea to send a private tell to your target as you flag them hostile to let them know of your intentions.

Lastly, no one should ever give someone grief in a PVP / CVC altercation if the winner did not use the subdual feature. That is their choice to use it or not. There are plenty of other Carebear servers out there. On Sundren, PVP / CVC is part of the game.

Let me attest, being nice-guy assassin can mean that you have a grumpy cripple riding your charater's back for the foreseeable future.

IMHO subdual in PvP (or CvC, however you want to look at it) should be active/dormant on agreed terms. Don't just attack and kill someone without first discussing the event in Tells and you will avoid pissed off enemies hunting you down with a group of friends later
