  • Character development...

    Hey everyone!

I've been following the forums since just before the wipe six days ago and have been on the server shortly for the first time yesterday.

I really like the focus on rp and the XP system in place. Still it seems that everyone is rushing the goblin caves?! Getting a look at a few screen shots it also seems like the characters are gaining levels quite quickly...

    So.. just out of interest...

What level are your characters six days after the wipe? What do the DMs think - or what does the XP-'engine' say about how quickly levels should be gained?

    I'm level 7, however I play a lot. >.>;

I also did quite a few events. So theres about 2400 exp right there...

Adding the 3 levels you get at start, as well. Once they balance loot and exp, the people will spread out more. ^^

I think it's just the fact that there are pretty much two places with squishy things to smash, the hills, and the forest. Forest is CR 4-6 (I think) and Hills are CR 1-3. Once more areas open up and people get to higher levels, I think the hills will thin out a bit. But then again, the lowbie area is usually always packed because of new characters, and remakes, and whatnot.

Gained 0xp so far. I rediscovered my addiction to Oblivion, so I won't be back on for a week or so. But when I do, I suspect I'll level in at least...a week maybe two. I find that slow progression is much more conducive to my style of RP.

Level 3 with a grand total of 125 more experience than when I started. Granted I haven't been able to play much because my internet connection is massively slow and I crash on every transition.

However I find that when I do play most everyone else is already killing every available badguy, and I'm not particularly impressed enough with some of the RP to join the groups.

So I'm just taking my time and waiting for everyone to outlevel and get new areas to explore, and my internet connection to not suck.

Level 5, I think. I mainly got my xp for going out in parties and roleplaying, but I have gotten alot from DM events such as the trial, Lord Corb and the adventures in Sestra caves and the "terminator" Iron Golem event which was cool.

I rediscover my addiction to Oblivion about every three weeks, which reminds me, i haven't finished that last daedric quest yet.....

I got a character up to level 6, mostly RP partying, but a little bit from quests (~1000) However i think i'm going to start a new character
Heh, i guess my characters are deleted, now. Updating char list soon!

Surprisingly I hit lvl 7 yesterday; I've been on a lot since the wipe but actually have been trying to avoid the goblin caves for the past few days, and combat in general - I did get in on several DM events that gave out quite a bit of quest xp, a rather surprising amount actually although one of them was a major event that lasted half a day. As well some of the DMs have been generous to me with RP xp which is fine I think as it's a much much lower amount than the quest XPs. I think the quest xp is what helped bump up myself and some other players that are lvl 7 or close to it. Plus the spawns, I suppose I've killed my fair share if you add up the time I've been on even if I'm consciously trying to avoid grinding. Overall the progression's faster than I expected.

I really would not mind if the progression is kept much slower. I'm quite surprised to see so many people who've gained 3-4 lvls already running around.

Couple of suggestions, I think setting the timer for goblin respawns to take longer in the caves and the hills might be a good idea, especially the chieftain(s), who I think should respawn once every few hours or so at the most.

Secondly, the other combat areas besides the goblin ones aren't too interesting atm - the forest you get about half a dozen enemies and you're done unless you wait for the same mobs to respawn in the same spot, and the spawns in the Sestra caves apparently aren't working properly (not sure as I've run through there only once aside from dm events). Fixing/improving these areas eventually will help pull people away from the Hills/gobbo caves.

Alt PC - Brevin Smoothands (meticulously groomed half orc bard swashbuckler... sort of... sings great, less fighting)

Um... sounds a bit stupid coming from me who has but played 30 minutes so far... but I agree, Ithildur.

Edit: Lots of fun to be had in the mid-levels in my opinion...

I'm european too, I just get up early. That is...7-8 AM, and then sometimes I can catch a late night US DM event. Been in 1? so far, and loving it.

And, by the way, I just hit 7 today with Mossclaw and Spittlefist assault. They just kept on coming!

I'm still level three on the cusp of level 4. Mind you I don't so much time hunting as much as I do on my story line with a few of my regulars, or chatting with new players as they come to the port.

That being said the other night I was in a small adventure with Scarlett and a few others, silly Arcane Trickster playin tricks on us. Not a whole lot of Xp in that adventure, but there was this part where an enchanted door was giving us riddles to get inside. I got 3 of the 5 questions right and I got 50xp each time. That was by far the most gratifying XP I have got since I've been in Sundren. (By the way thanks Saulus for an excellent end to my night).

I guess for Westandris it's not that important for him to level, mind you he's not getting any younger either.

They're revising loot and the forest/caves to my knowledge. That'll stem heat off the goblin areas for now.
