  • Newbie question

Apologies if these are covered somewhere else, but I've been through most of the stickies and couldn't see them...

Are there any restrictions on builds, for instance do you specify a minimum number of levels of any class to prevent people dropping in 1 level purely for bonuses/abilities with no relation to the character background...for instance taking 1 level of shadowdancer just to get hide in plain sight.

Are all the classes/abilities as per standard NWN2, or have any been modified?

Are any feats restricted/changed (perhaps to be more in line with 3.5 rules)

If this info is on the forum elswhere, please just point me in the right direction, don't bother replying to this drivel.

Aye, so if you wanted you could make a pure barbarian with improved knockdown and 20 STR to start and then run up to anyone and beat the living !@#$% out of them after going into a barbarian rage because it never misses and your strength check is often much higher then anyone elses after raging so Ta!

      World is cruel

Then again, mages are just mean after getting Bigby's But! Currently you don't need to worry about that And! *begins increaasing in volume* as soon as you connect you can chain knockdown the sucker because he can't do anything about it! He'll be down forever!!! RAWR! Krunk smash!

At this point I would like to say that I am not a fan of knockdown and hate the feat, for just that reason.

I did look at knockdown. And thought about it. And looked at it again. And thought somemore.

Then decided it's just tooo cheesy in its current form, and took something else.

I ought to point out that although my original post might imply that I'm planning a completely warped build purely for good stats/feats I'm not. I just wnated to know what the view on the server was. Looks like it's being monitored and may change in future then.

Actually, unless you do make a cheesy build with all points in STR and the rest of your stats being 8 or less, knockdown in practice is not near automatic; remember it's a straight d20 roll with str modifier only, not affected by AB or BAB; given the nature of NWN dice, you could easily go on a tear and roll 19, 18, 20, 18, 19, 20's in a row and think it's uber, or roll 1,3, 3, 2, 4, 1 in a row (far more likely it seems than the first) and only be wasting your attacks. Plus the opponent gets a counter roll; wizards with low str you should be able to push around pretty successfully, but at higher lvls, all it takes is just one spell being succesfully cast and the knockerdowner may be toast.

That's why wizards get bigsby's at higher levels; if they survive long enough to get to those levels, they deserve a spell like that anyway after having to live for so long running in fear of kobolds and goblins (although with the lite death penalties any schuck can get to higher lvls as a wiz if they're persistent enough )
PC - Corwin Eska'las (Sun Elf pursuing the dream of becoming a Bladesinger)

Alt PC - Brevin Smoothands (meticulously groomed half orc bard swashbuckler... sort of... sings great, less fighting)
