  • Ninja Heal

What Follows is all about IC reactions and has absolutley no OOC provocation to it:

ninja healer: One who runs up to someone else who's not at full health and heals them without rp or even so much as asking.

Due to a rash of ninja healers of late, I'm going to start responding in kind.
Now I'm not saying I'm going to whip out a katana and beat you with in an inch of your life, but please don't grow upset OOC if you get punched in the head for it.

My PC has told many many people he doesn't want anyone to cast spells on him, no matter what the spell is. I left him at a 0 in spellcraft for a reason. He's magicly ignorant. He doesn't know a healing spell from a fireball, and given the chance would try to disrupt both to the best of his ablility.
From now on, I will treat somone ninja healing me as if they are attacking me. If they are high level, they'll get a mechanics based attack, if their low level I'll prolly RP a punch to their nose.

If your not Ninja healing me, then that means you've asked and you've gotten a resounding "no thanks" from me. And this doesn't apply to you.
This doesn't apply to fighting in combat with me or anything else, jsut spells. And I thought its only fair to give a heads up to those that don't know yet.

I checked the ruling on this http://www.sundren.org/forum/showthread.php?t=762
and found it to be legit if its kept IC, which I promise you it will be.

Anyways as I said its IC and not OOC.

Now to track down Herger the Joyous and demand satisfaction for my honor. I hope he's the type that isn't above apologizing.

Hmm.. I always ICly let people know when Yashia wants to heal them, but even if they turn down the offer she might sometimes still do it, simply because she doesn't want them to stand there in pain.

And Herger above apologizing? I think you're sooner in for ten times more apologies than you asked for!

The way I always see it ICly is that your character probably wouldn't notice someone else being hurt unless they're badly wounded or below or are rping it. What bothers me is when two people are on opposite sides of the fire and about 15ft from each other and one of them is barely injured but the other jumps up and heals him. I would equate barely injured with a few scratches so that guy must have some damn good eyes.

In the calmness of an RP environment, there's nothing wrong with smacking the heck out of someone. Just remember to flag them hostile first please

As for heals during panicked situations, like seeing someone in fire, etc., keep in mind that this is a video game. I can't tell you how many times I've been burned (no pun intended) by trying to type something out and missing an opportunity. Part of this game is to have quick reactions with the keyboard or mouse. Try not to fault people for knee-jerk reactions during these kind of situations--we've all been trained to react quickly in the realm of video games.

If you have any equipment that gives a bonus to hitpoints, barely injured is no injury. An Obsidian bug causes you to spawn with less hitpoints than maximum, thus why most high level characters run around barely injured all the time. I've learned to ignore barely injured, even injured at times. Badly wounded and near death are kind of hard to miss though.

          General guideline for injuries.

Barely injured: Light scratching, minor cuts or bruises. Wounds are only visible if it is roleplayed out.
Injured: At least one open wound, not necessarily in plain sight. May need medical attention to avoid infection, but it is likely to heal on its own.
Badly wounded: More than one open wound, possibly still bleeding. The wounds are clearly visible. Without medical attention, the wound could be infected and may worsen.
Near death: Large wounds, clearly bleeding. It's a miracle they can still walk. They could die without immediate medical attention.
Negative hitpoints: Seconds away from death. They are not likely to recover on their own.
          Dead: Like a doornail.

Basically, ninja healing is the equivalent of a doctor going up you and forcing a pill down your throat or sticking a needle in your arm without saying a word. Even if you're bleeding out of a gash in your side, they're going to at least tell you what they're doing, as long as you're conscious. In a panicked situation, even the characters may react in a knee-jerk fashion. Who's going to ask if a burning man wants them to put out the flames?

"Excuse me! Excuse me, sir! May I put those flames out? They look really painf---sir! Excuse me, sir! Don't run off, sir! Don't sue me!" Casts healing spell.

            I love it.

Well I agree with what's said to some degree, but Leck is a slightly obsessive healer, and I always RP him as such. Mostly I will state something along the lines of "Seeing a cut on Yashia's brow, Leck reaches out a hand and heals her with a habitual detatchment" or something of the sort. If someone then punched him in the head he would respond in kind and likely never want to speak to the person again, or at least stab them to death with a flaming rapier once or twice. He can't stand rudeness or ungratefulness. It might be impuning your honour to be healed without asking, but it's just downright rude to go hostile on someone that just did you a favour.

Two conflicting viewpoints where both people would be in the right, pending on where you were raised and what your values are... hmmm, sounds like good RP to me!

No one's saying you shouldn't do it. They are giving fair OOC warning to possible IC consequences. Just react ICly on both sides and it should create some fun discussions and reactions.

I'm pretty sure Leckith already knows about Snow Hawk IC from past experience. As does just about anyone whos been around him. This was just a heads up to those that haven't been around him is all.

People have a tendency of getting upset OOC for my IC actions, and I'm documenting this in advance. Covering My Ass, so to speak.

Max is a combat Medic, and therefor trained to heal during combat, not standing around the fire. Presumably if someone made it that far, then they are not anywhere near death's door.

Still, he is a nice guy and will usually make a heal check roll against someone that appears injured below 50%. Then he will offer some help.

                        We're getting off topic folks.

This isn't about combat. THis is about walking peacefully thru the woods and folks running up to SNOW HAWK and !BAM! casting spells at him without saying a word.

Anyone I go into combat with (as an ally, enemies get different treatment), I try to make sure ahead of time they know my wishes. SO combat is a moot point.

Well that was kinda my point. There really is no need to heal someone out of combat just hanging around the fire.

Well,Vader knows quite well how Snow feels about spells directed towards him,He was prolly the first to find out..Though Vader isnt the type to just heal anyone anyways..If you are standing around wounded,he pretty much thinks you deserve to.
