  • Obsidian Patch 1.13

For those of you guys who were hoping for a fix to transition crashes in the next patch will be disappointed... Just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone who hasn't read the patch notes yet: Great news for DMs (at whom the entire patch is pretty much aimed) and not such good news for ordinary players.

Of course, good news for DMs also means good news for us who play under them, and in particular I can't wait for this simple function to be released:

The chat system now has a /r command for replying to the last private message a player receives. After receiving a private message, the player can enter "/r" into the chat system which will automatically address a private message to the person that sent the previous private message.

The ability to send a private message by right clicking on a character's portrait in the party bar has been added to the DM and player client.

For anyone who wants to catch up on everything that will be included, you'll find the patch notes at the official NWN2 forums.

Unfortunately I have to say I'm extremely disappointed. Months after long months of work on a patch and we've got very little to get excited about.

Pfft. You won't be. This is one of the two patches I have been waiting for so long. With this patch a whole new system will go in on Sundren revolutionizing your RPing, giving you all the PNP skills to use, like disguise, swim, etc.

We can now start putting in instances for all of them. And items to boost those scores.

Finally the dark hunter will be selectable as a PRC, (a very very well balanced PRC if you ask me)

Finally we'll be able to have persisitent stores.

Movement rate factors are finally alterable.. so I'll be able to make longstrider, expeditious and the others actually last thru a web spell instead of being cancelled.

    and more.

There is a lot to be excited about.

        Really sounds awesome, Sean!

Although picking skills will be even harder... d'oh.

Must say I also like the /r command. I lose a lot of time scrolling up and down in the private messaging player selection window.

Wait, swim? So are we going to get some new areas that require a swim check?

Actually yes, Saulus recently asked me to put in slow down triggers for water, and I was thinking to modify the slowdown speed by a swim check.
Say 25% of your base speed would be your movement, but if you pass hte swim check you can move at 50% of your base speed. Making diving into water a resonable solution to escaping other people or monsters, (unless they pass their swim test too)

Awesome Sean, thank God we have you to pick up the slack where Obsidian fall short! *falls prone and worships*
