Well it seems we still have people complaining of people not RPing or camping in the caves. These people who are complaining have decided not to take screenshots and I'm just completely fed up. Sundren in the very near future will be passworded and require an application. The Sundren Staff is not able to take any action unless proof is shown. This is our only alternative to solve the matter.

People are still not getting it...
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Personally, I don't feel the need to have DM's spend their time chasing around people who aren't RPing or camping or whatnot. The only time I get them involved (one time) is when they are actually harming PC's by doing non-RP PvP stuff.
When I run into PC's who are camping, no-RP, metagaming or whatever, I just walk away from them and I basically ignore them when I see them later on. In the experience I've had with other RP servers, these people tend to get bored pretty quickly and move on. Either that or they get the idea that you really need to RP here and they make a new char and start over. I usually give them a second chance if they do this.
I simply think alot of things real RP folks don't like from other players can be passively controled by the players themselves.Account:

We wouldn't chase them if we didn't think they needed to be dealt with. We have goals for a player base so we can do the more interesting parts of DM'ing. The server is only a small portion of what we plan it to be. It's best to weed out the problems so they don't carry on to the grander scale stories and events.Originally posted by pook View PostPersonally, I don't feel the need to have DM's spend their time chasing around people who aren't RPing or camping or whatnot. From what little experience I have: This is the way to go. See it through to get a successful and fun server. The server is only a small portion of what we plan it to be. I hear ya GodBeast. I certainly don't mind if people severly disrupting the gameplay are dealt with, be that whatever the DM decides.
The unstated point to my post was, don't get too stressed out dealing with every player request or every single disruptive player to the point that you don't have fun anymore, as monitoring players is probably not what any DM signed on to spend their day doing.
DM's deserve to have fun too!

passworded PWs in1 have always been more fun and personalized. Sry to say that this will turn other, more casual, gamers away, but the end result would be less fustrating.
Although I do agree with ThwartedNeo, in the sense that there isnt too many places to "better" your character. When quests and more places pop-up, ppl shouldn't be complaining about campers, since they'll be more things to do.

The problem with that is, the chronic complaining forces us to be more active in policing the server which halves our time in the toolset which overall slows down the entire production of doing anything. If GodBeast is ingame dealing with people who need to be banned you're taking away development time from Sundren.Originally posted by Ichbin View Postpassworded PWs in1 have always been more fun and personalized. There isn't anything here I disagree with and quite frankly I agree and support much of it.
Just like any server that does really well you're going to get an influx of people from a variety of different goals, styles and methods of approach.
And too often we see the type that rush and grind to try to get to a higher level for what I honestly assume is an attempt to get the highest level they can and above anyone else so that other players will be humbled, fear, and or respect them. What they often fail to realize is that the characters are controlled by players, people that think, analyze and take in things they see in context with one another. Just because you're a higher level doesn't mean they're going to bow respectfully to you, listen to you or give you any weight to your words. That's the thing about player run communities, players respect other players who take the time to develop relationships, to prove themselves and make themselves known. Only NPC's blindly decide to follow someone because they're of a high level with many magical items.
On another note, as much as I like seeingn a server open for people to log in, make a character and try out the world for themselves. It really does sound like a password will need to be implemented for the server. Just yesterday evening I had the pleasure of speaking with a DM who was very patient and understanding with my problems or questions. What I also found out was that this DM also really wanted to make an rp event at the moment for the roleplayers to partake in but he/she couldn't simply because she had her hands full patrolling the goblin hills and making sure people weren't mindlessly grinding and running past eachother.
Like pook said, a DM shouldn't have to spend so much time doing that, they should be able to relatively trust the fact that the players are roleplaying and interacting as they hunt or walk about the city and thus allow themselves thea bility and time to create events, further character development and happenings of the world. I do hope this problem gets solved soon and I would also like to say and agree with what one of the players said once in another thread. Keep up the good work DM's, it can't be easy being the only one or one of two DM's on at a time when there are close to 30-40 players on as well, coupled with the consistant complaints and non-roleplaying, I cringe when I think about what you have to deal with as you sign in and everyone see's the _____ has signed on as a Dungeon Master.
Hope it clears up soon, and kudos

Good post.
I agree; I think even a minimal amount of security such as having the password posted in a thread that clearly lists the basic rules and expectations of the server will help some and make life easier for the DMs; at least you won't have someone that has no idea/no interest in reading the rules just DL the pwc and jump in to start grinding and PKing.PC - Corwin Eska'las (Sun Elf pursuing the dream of becoming a Bladesinger)
Alt PC - Brevin Smoothands (meticulously groomed half orc bard swashbuckler... sort of... sings great, less fighting)

the first time I was in the caves which was right before the character wipe was with a group who got attacked by bugs and vampires from a DM...very fun by the way...
but my question is, is the scripting the same as NWN1 with regards to being able to time quests...
I seem to remember on some servers where you would have to bring x amount of rats to the captain of the guards and after you ran that quest you could not do that quest until the server reset...
also in the caves some groups I have been in seem to just run ahead and kill everything in your path instead of roleplaying with the players in your party and using the rogue to scout ahead...(hint hint stronger and more traps)...slow down use the clerics and bards to buff...protect the weaker party members...roleplay the strategizing...heck you might need to use strategy if a DM is on and you dont know he is setting up something big and ugly just ahead of you...
Thanks again for the hard work by everyone behind the scenes here!!!!!
