  • Changes to World Map

The Sundren world map will no longer by default have every map point available and revealed. Effective today map points must be unlocked via quests before they are accessible.

By default Port Avanthyr will always be unlocked as this is the starting area. Subsequent areas can be unlocked from Port Avanthyr, and other areas around Sundren. The large reason for this is to help stop low level players (especially new players entirely) from wandering into dangerous high level zones and getting killed. More quests also mean more XP so it really shouldn't be a chore.

Also, exploring new areas that reveal a map note will also befit you with some small exploration XP.

There will be more features in the future that will work with these new systems.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Sounds cool! I love exploring, and now at least I know I won't wander where I'll be killed before I can have a proper look around.

Question though - will that also limit access to DM run events?

And what about peaceful areas such as Sundren City or Exigo Trading Post?
Annaleen Wiltenholm-There's always something to smile about.
Chani Kalera- Intimidation is the new diplomacy. *looms*
Eleanor "Bloody Elle" Lark - Why is the rum always gone?
Yolanda Brown - If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. But unless life also gives you water and sugar, your lemonade is going to suck.

      DM's are covered.

ALL areas must be unlocked except avanthyr.

Can we get a run down of which quests we need to unlock areas? Its kind of a pain in the butt for established characters. I don't even know where to find all the quests that have been put in game recently.

Dang, I hope this change doesn't apply to old characters. On the other hand, we will see a lot of action out there in the port if it does.

Does this mean that all of the quests have been reset?

Well I checked this out with Serena who has a bunch of quests done, and Catalina who has no quests done. Both of them are missing Sestra, Necropolis, Schild mountains, and Mossdale Forest and nothing else as far as I can tell.

If you have completed all or most of the quests already, will the areas be unlocked?

Anyway I think it's very unrealistic, my character went to the Necropolis, and now... she doesn't knows where the Necropolis is?

What would be even funnier is if you saved at the Necropolis but couldn't remember where you actually are.

She knows where it is, but now it is surrounded by a scourge of evil undead so she can't go there til she solves the quest. Yeah, that's it.

I can rationalize any game mechanic!

For everyone that thinks this is unrealistic, sorry, but this is BETA.

Just remember one little thing. If we put a new system in, the only way we can satisfy everyone everytime, is a vault wipe. Nobody wants that.

Now, like I said, for everyone that says I've been there! Why Can't I see it now! Talk to a dm if they have time.

Again, your standing with old quests (previous to this weeks) has NO effect on unlocks.

And no, quests are not going to be reset. Not unless everyone wants another crafting wipe and 5000 xp deduction.

NO! NO! Not another crafting wipe. I just spent all my savings buying gems from that Th... Red Wizard the other night.

Calowyn will not confuse a Thayan for a Red Wizard again. Pyras made sure he knew the difference.
