Yes, as Sharingtom said earlier the big problem that people make in NWN2 is taking the visual components that appear unlike how all of the FR books I've ever read describe them.

Like how in a book it will say that the scimitar landed squarely onto the mages neck easily moving to behead him. BUT! To the warriors surprise the blade lands solidly on an invisible barier just off of the mages skin. aka Stoneskin.. I've always taken it that nearly all of the big domes, and bubbles, skins etc aren't visable to the naked eye. Besides ofcourse as he said, the ones that cover you in flames, etc, also mirror image is rather decieving as well, BG2 had a much better graphic for it and I would assume it is one that can be RPed about since there are multiple images of the mage.

For my part as a mage player I would prefer some of the graphics to be only visible to the player of the character, so that they provide the easy visual confirmation that the spell hasn't faded, etc.. But From a RP perspective I don't want people reacting to or countering my spell unless they are suppose to be able to see them. Mages conceal thier spells typically, and all the hand waving, glowing domes, etc doesnt seem to exist in the books that I've read anyways..

      Thanks,

Ideally spell effects would only be visible to those with spellcraft skills. That way those with zero ranks would see nothing. I don't know how feasible that is though.

I agree with nickbeat fully! Sounds like quite a bit of work though.

My two coppers is that sure in D&D you arn't able to see various effects and a lot of effects you dont see already in NWN2, like cats grace etc. But since the game has been designed so there is a big glowy bubble for protection from energy or mage armor etc then it should be roleplayed as such. I roleplay what I see regarding this. And as for the original post I think that walking around glowing like a christmas tree wouldnt have any negative influence on the person other than weird looks from everyone else.

Well, I'm going to conclude my own thread by stating something that most people probably are already aware of, and function in accordance with:

Just think what it would do to your character. Maybe the effects of buffs would have no adverse effect on you, but maybe they would. Just creatively consider it.

              The end.
