Playing NPC Reaction

A brief disclaimer: I'm not pointing fingers at anyone here. I've got no grounds to, since I've done this in the past, but.

Have the rules about playing the reactions of NPCs in Rumor and Roleplay posts changed? It once used to be that dictating reactions of even a few commoner "extras" was discouraged and prohibited. However, I've been seeing a fair bit recently of players doing that, and it doesn't seem to have been a problem with staff.

Can we RP out reactions of NPCs to our actions, then? Or is this still off-limits?

Raksha, thank you for bringing this up. The rules have not changed. Players can only emote or speak for their own characters.

When spreading a rumor, you cannot say "Word spreads through Exigo...," or, "Commoners begin to discuss ..." However, you can say, "Tamyrn spreads a rumor..." or "A woman wearing heavy armor was heard saying..."

It is not the place for a player to decide what NPCs or other players are talking about.

Also keep in mind--when you post a rumor, there could be risk involved. Posting fliers (where is all this paper coming from?) and making rumors, then saying "slips into the night undetected" doesn't fly. It is possible you'll be spotted. Consider that in your rumors please.

I always ask permission to PL lately, and when I don't, I send him a PM saying "look, I made this post, take a look if it's ok".

I just went back and editted my rumors post.

Its tough, cause I have to consider wether what I am posting is geared toward stuff I add to the Moudle, or if its about my PC. Sometimes I get them muddled.

Anyways the Snow Hawk Posts is updated to personal perspective.

The Black Stones rumor is left as a non personal experience

I will take all responsibility for any rumors I start or any posters that are put up. Sometimes it is my character that posts them and sometimes it is Bane flunkies. I also have no problem if a DM extracts stags when I do certain things to make it more realistic.

If I do go too far, please let me know. I cannot play as often as many of you and I am part of several different large plots; therefore, the forum is sometimes the only means I have to do things to further the plots I am involved in.

If somebody wishes to post a rumor about one of my characters, you can just send me a tell, I'm a pretty understanding individual most of the time.
