i haven't seen this brought up yet so here it goes:

a number of custom spells are marked as "evil". does that mean only evil characters can use them? if a good character uses them, does that influence their alignment towards evil? etc.

i don't want to pick one at level up and find that it will work against me or is against my character's RP.
    characters:
Jos'iah Ithildurin - Semper, a guardian of Haldemar. "One should always be faithful"
Elijah - Warrior Mage and Legionairre of Sundren. "My axe and my magic will cleave you!"
Duskthorne - Bounty Hunter. "Every land needs a masked man to do the dirty work for them" (personal heroes: The Knight of the Flying Rodent and The Monk of the Arachnid Order)

I do not know the mechanics, but I know for a fact that if DM's see you use these spells, they will take it into account when or if they shift your alignment. Furthermore, I've been told by a DEV that they do indeed automatically shift your alignment after a certain amount of uses; though, again, I don't know the specifics.
Pyras: Red Wizard of Thay, High Arcanist of Illusion, Master of the Enclave's Knight Commander.

Currently taking apprentices, and conducting research.

Which DEV told you that Kang? Cause it wasn't me.

Here's what you need to know as players. Anyone can cast a good or evil spell. The game won't stop you. If you are good and cast an evil or the opposite, there is something that happens, but I will never reveal what it is under any amount of torture.

No amount of torture? *evil grin*

*runs out back and gets an old car battery with wires sticking out from them*

*also pulls out a tickling feather +5 (+10 vs DEVs)*

oh yeah. on a related note: does the same apply to Necromancy-type spells? (i.e. enervation, fear, curse of impending blades, etc)

Only spells with the [Good] or [Evil] sub type are effected by this. Necromancy is a type, not a subtype.

When you see subtypes think, fear, mind, evil, good, law, chaos, animal, fire, etc.

And anyone that thinks they can torture me is welcome to try. I have a one year old daughter that has yet to sleep through the night, I work full time (though I hardly call it work), am about to go back to school part time, and have a wife who is a drama queen. (Seriously, she'll admit to it. She even once told me "If there isn't any drama, I will subconsiously create some")
Oh and I can't remember if I'm 32 or 33 years old anymore.

And finally, I have to put up with the players of Sundren on a daily basis.
(I won't even mention the pleasure that I get from being Saulus's shoulder to cry on when you all upset him!)

                sean,

hmmm... my +10 tickler vs DEVs probably won't do a thing compared to what you face everyday. :P

you're welcome to get your frustrations out by sending the snakes, displacer beasts, carrion crawlers, giant scorpions, (not a ) beholder, basilisks,... hmmm what else have you thrown at me just to test your new toys? ( i seem to be on when you want to test them out.)

just as long as you rezz me right afterwards :P

thanks for the response! you (you guys) are doing great work. if this is the beta, i can't wait to see the final result!

I'm glad I live in the UK in an unsociable timezone compared to the devs Leck would just look at most of those and drop dead on the spot xD
