A question on search

Hi,

I've got a question about the search facility on the forums...

It seems one cannot search for posts older than 4 weeks - is this correct? (I was searching for references to certain PC and found no results on search, but yet there are posts matching my searches)

Is there a way of expanding a search to all older posts?

Using the advanced options (selecting 'anydate' and 'and newer', 'also search on child forums' is selected) on search makes no difference - no results older than 4 weeks.

Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated as I do like to read up on certain older posts.

Did you use the regular search from the menu, or advanced search (the link below the search form in the menu)? Advanced has a way to search for all posts or limit them by time range - though I haven't tried to see if it actually brings up older posts.

If you know who started the particular thread you're looking for, you can search from that person's profile (Show Threads X has started)


Unrelated, something I've found regarding search:

It would be good to be able to search for strings shorter than 4 characters. I tried searching for something the other day and couldn't, because it didn't allow me to search for three letter words. (In my case I think I was trying to find out why Halfings are called "Hin")

I used both...

I searched for 'Drogan' and I found no hits on the name, although there are a few posts containing that PC name.

But point taken, I'll search on the poster's name rather than the content of the post.
