  • Sundren Client Lagging?

I know I seem to have immeasurable problems getting onto Sundren and one would think it would dissuade me but I really do enjoy playing on the Server.

So the inital problem was me being unable to access multiplayer (at all not simply the server) so I decided after much reflection to perform a clean install of the entire game in an effort to nail the problem down.

This went as smoothly as installing NWN2 can go and after, about 5 hours of patching the game, I sought to download the Sundren client so that I could once again fight the forces of evil. (Cowering behind a crate while the goblins do unspeakable things to villagers is pretty much the same thing as actually fighting the evil right?)

Sadly whenever I start the updater it just freezes when it reaches 4%. The speed I am downloading at varies between 20kb/s to 232 kb/s but it takes forever to reach 4% and then simply freezes.

I asked at the University tech support desk whether they block port 80 and was told that they do not. I also have a friend in the halls of residence who plays NWN2 without any of the problems I do. I was just wondering then if perhaps there was a problem with the client that was mentioned but I missed?

The problem is going to lie between you and the server, there is nothing wrong with the updater or the server itself, it's likely tied to your internet connection as you're located on the other side of the globe.

All I can really recommend is to keep trying the updater.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
