  • Just a friendly heads up to those toeing the gray line.

A paladin who ceases to be lawful good, who willfully commits an evil act, or who grossly violates the code of conduct loses all paladin spells and abilities (including the service of the paladin’s mount, but not weapon, armor, and shield proficiencies). She may not progress any farther in levels as a paladin.
A druid who ceases to revere nature, changes to a prohibited alignment, or teaches the Druidic language to a nondruid loses all spells and druid abilities (including her animal companion, but not including weapon, armor, and shield proficiencies).
For example a 16th level druid that falls to CE will NOT be deleveled, but every single druidic feat and ability and spell will vanish from him.

A 11th level paladin who drops alignment or even commits an evil act does not become a 9th level fighter. He stays a paladin but all his paladin abilities, feats, and spells vanish.

This also applies to Blackguards who go non evil or willingly commit a good act.
This also applies to a future class that is "To Be Announced"

The DM's now have the power to do this. It takes them 6 keystrokes and a single click of the mouse to do it. So don't think they won't because it would be a big hassle.

    Wow, that was "friendly?"

Thanks for the hard work SDiz, I'll put it to use very soon, I fear!

now, how to provoke a paladin to do an evil deed....

wait, did I say that out loud? J/K

That's actually pretty awesome. I don't think it'll have any effect on the good RPers, others it will

Out of curiosity, my malar druid doesn't do the whole "nature" thing outside of recognizing it as a santuary for the maurading beasts. But, he'll sure take the time to admire a good specimen of thrashing dire bore. That's RPish?

I ask this because it was hard to find much background information on exactly what Malar druids are. And based on the reference material I found (not that I exhausted that much time researching), I just play him as a animal guy instead of a forest guy....but even with animals, they were meant to be hunted. It's kind of hard to RP them right...but, I like the challenge

Am I right in saying that you should be able to attone for an evil act if you are a paladin or a good act if you are a blackguard? Similarly, should you be able to refind your reverence for nature and balance if you are a druid?

Yes, it is possible to earn it back through attonement, but it will not be easy.

I can think of two people who fit that description of 11th level paladin and 16th level druid.

What about monks that go Chaotic? Do they lose their monk abilities?

I'm not sure if it states anything about that in the PnP rules. I'm just wondering because I have been contemplating making my own monk go batshit crazy soon.

Nope, monks don't lose any of their abilities. They just can't advance in their class ever again as far as I know (no atonements), but from reading this, I don't think that's in. So yes, you could make a monk/barbarian and literally kick arse while enraged!

Only the above 3 Base classes and 1 very specific Prestige Class lsoe their powers. None of the others "CURRENTLY ON SUNDREN" lose their powers. You just can't take any more levels in them.

As for this, there is a unspoken rule... alignment changes for the purpose munchkinizing your class builds is frowned upon heavily.
This is to prevent Barbarian/Dwarven Defenders Running around with obscene Damage Reduction, Paladin/Blackguards with doubled up saving throws from the two different CHA based saving throw boosts, etc.

Munchkinism = bad. RP = good.
