I'm posting this in a question format, to not come off angry or anything, which I'm not. I'm just curious and would like answers that a simple "because we need to keep the population down" won't answer, like if its because of allignment or anything.

By the way, I copy/pasted because I was originally going to post this in the RPer of the month thread, laziness ftw!

Hi there, I know this is my only post, and I also know that this is a bad way to start off in a new community, but I need to ask this:

What about the people who are tired of roleplaying humans, elves, dwarfs, etc and want to RP something different? I know that if they weren't restricted everyone would flock to them, but the truth is, the core races can and do get boring really fast.

Are you saying we should have to somehow get the RP of the month award on a character we don't like RPing much to actually start RPing on a character we do?

Yes, I know all the responses I can get, ranging from "If you don't like it, find another server" to "change your character to a race that isn't restricted".

Tieflings: They aren't ALWAYS evil. Yes, most of them are, but there are those that are neutral/good as well. It's true that the tiefling players will flock and make their "good" tieflings, but that is most likely from experiances where evil characters were KoS no matter what. I was one of those people, and I have to say, it's hard to break old RP habbits.

Also, my first concept for a character was a tiefling ranger, but I also decided a half-elf ranger could work just as well for my concept. My friend also had an interest in joining, but was turned off by permadeath if not raised after level 11, locked races and classes, so the purpose of this little rant isn't for me, its for my friend.

edit: this is a new one....Just so you guys know, overpopulation will happen no matter what you restrict/keep open...So restricting half the races/PrCs doesn't make much sense, if you ask me

I can't speak for anyone but myself, here's my opinion though.

That's some concrete language there, I don't think there's anything wrong with only allowing the 'core races'. Sorry, but if the only thing exciting to you about your character is his race... I think I can stop there.

Rp'er of the month isn't something you should be trying to get by playing some half hearted character, it's supposed to be a little bonus for those people who have shown excellent, dedicated, role playing. I think that anyone should be able to make a very enjoyable character without using the ECL races.

*snickers* *law of Drizzt may also apply here.*

Our population seems to keep its self in check, the players we like tend to stick around while the one's who aren't happy with the way the server is tend to move on.

I don't want to sound negative, and when I first started playing NWN2 I was one of those 'y'know I want to be a genasi or something strange' people too, not to mention that I was unfavorable of harsh death penalties or possible perma death, and level caps. After playing on Sundren for a few weeks though, the RP made me not care about any of that crap. I also favor harsher death penalties, and level caps. Helps take the game off of easy mode a little bit.

It all comes down to this. We used to have open races. For the first year of Sundren's life races and classes were open. Im not exaggerating the next part: 75% of the server was an ECL race.

Sundren is not a melting pot of half outsiders running around. Yet, thats exactly what was happening.

You may say you know from experience people won't do it, but we know from experience on Sundren that the people here will do it here.

Also, this is a dead horse issue so it gets locked.
