  • Gnomes and talking to the Animals

I just made a gnome and found he had ANimal as a language? can someone explain this, and if there's a reason, do druids get it and if they do, why don't rangers get it?

Gnomes can speek to burrowing animals, according to PnP rules. Perhaps this is the logic, and they have expanded it to include all animals.

I do believe that druids get it (if he's a druid). Not sure if gnomes get it because my gnome is a druid, so he can talk to animals amongst other things.

Gnomes get it, I made a Gnome Sorcerer, not a druid.

If Druid's get it, that's new. Karthus never had it until Dune thought "Hey, that's stupid", and gave it to me.

Hmm... I had an elf druid once and I thought he got it too... I apologize if they do not, that's my mistake.

My druid only has druidic, not animal. This is the first I've heard of anyone having animal as a language. I can't imagine rangers ever being able to speak to animals, but druids, yes. Especially while in animal form. For now I guess you'll have to ask a DM if you're not a gnome.

I could swear my druid has it, hmm (can't check right now though).... maybe only if your INT allows it?

Druids don't get animal language here. And strangely enough they can't even take it if they have the int score for extra languages.

But gnomes having it is more or less correct, although its an extremely limited ability going by the book, compared to being able to speak the 'animal language' at will.
