  • Regarding the Max Level

According to the New Experience System - HOWTO thread in the Public Information part of the forum, the max level starts at 8, however, in game it shows mine to be level 5 (which is my current level).

Was the default Max Level changed to 5 after that post was made?

The max level shown there increases as your character logs more time in Sundren. Once you hit Level 15, it will stop increasing.

I'm level 16, but my maximum level is still 15. I cheated. Don't let the system hold you back!

"Once you hit Level 15, it will stop increasing"

The max level is 15 now? I thought it was level 20 and then the rest you need to get through RP and DM-related events? *confused*

One small request, can we put the max level rules on the wiki or somewhere else obvious? I got confused just like omniscientist with the lvl 5 vs lvl 8 max cap question. I may not have searched the forums perfectly, but I'm pretty sure I checked with honest effort.

I figured the above suggestion may be the best option lest every new gamer ask the same question over and over and over... (like me *smile*)

There are a few level 16's on the server at this point. So yes.. you can get past level 15, but its pure DM gifted XP after 15.

Tell you what though, I find that the more you write in the RP threads.. the larger the DM XP rewards seem to be when you get them in game. Think of the RP thread as a multiplier for your XP. It really does work.

Ahhh... so that's the trick. Sweet! So you don't always have to do things in game to help enhance your level gain. Nice.

I don't always have time to play for more than an hour and can rarely catch DM's online. (I still haven't caught one for the XP gain on my well-thought out and well-written bio for my char *wink*)

PS: If there's a DM schedule, I would LOVE to know about it (whether it be a hard schedule or a general trend). I get limited time online and would love to schedule it at your schedule.

Very good idea, about the Wiki. If someone hasn't, or doesn't, beat me to it, I'll have it done by the end of the night.

And it was purely from DM experience, which included rewards for a great many things. Writing, good RP, participating in events, making a DM laugh really hard, (etc). Also, the quests that are given out by NPC's still give XP, no matter your level. They help.

Ok I understand the lvl cap and then the progression beyond 15 with DM XP, RP and other things of the sort. My question I guess would be is there a lvl cap beyond that, say no more than 20 on Sundren at all or will this go up as time goes on based on a 'play it as time goes on' sort of deal? Not that there needs to be or anything of the like, I was just asking in general. If the server had a max limit total. Just curious I guess.

Sundren used to be capped at 20, rather than 15, and at that point you could progress beyond that with DM experience. That implied that epic levels were possible, but unlikely to gain in large quantities. Now that the cap is 15, though, I'm not sure if epic levels will ever actually be possible again.

Ah. Like I said, I was just curious about the total limit and epic lvls of the sort. Thanks.

Well, just try to remember that this is a beta, and just because something is a certain way now, doesn't mean it'll be that way forever. I'm sure if the DM's decide to change the max level at any point we'll be hearing about it.
