The updater

Is it a new one?

I haven't played since before 08, and the updater I have now won't give me all the required files.

Have you gotten a new updater since then?

Questions questions

The current updater available tells me I need :

Windows Installer 3.1

and

.NET Framework 3.5

to install it.

What are those exactly?

You can get both free from Microsoft on their downloads page. I'd suggest getting the full .NET download as it will probably be quicker than downloading just the bootstrap. Alternatively when you download the new updater it comes with both of the above.
