  • Few questions

Greetings, I'm currently dowloading the files as we speak and had a few questions I'd like to ask while I'm waiting:

    1) Any way to disable that google add at the top of the website?

    2) Do we have to fill out an app to play a prc? I checked the FAQ forum and it didn't say anything about prc's.

    3) Whats the average level of players on here? Whats the max level? Are there any caps? And are there alot of new players around (would be tough if I'm the only level 1 and everyone else is 20).

    4) I'm planning a cleric and am already aware of the domains rule. Anything else I should know before I make the character and hop in-game?

Website looks very pleasing to the eye btw, its just that annoying add at the top thats a little annoying (i'm a bit of a perfectionist

    1) Donate enough money so they don't need to fund bandwidth with ads?

    2) There are a few PrCs that have IC requirements to take, but I don't think you need to fill out an app

    3) See for yourself

    4) Restricted races/classes and domains should be it I think

Is it free leveling up to 30 or is there a cap and then you have to earn the rest through rp?

There is currently a pseudo level cap at level 15. At level 15 you no longer get exp from monsters or the automatic RP exp. The only way to gain exp at that point is from DM reward (event's and stuff) and quests (which are currently being implemented).

The cap also 'grows' it starts at max level 5 in the beginning and as days go by it advances level by level eventually stopping at 15.

I believe the ultimate level cap right now is level 20, but the DM's may have changed it, I'm not sure. Either way that doesn't matter too much because by the time you get enough exp to hit level 20 from DM experience and quests they will probably have raised the cap to something higher than 15 lol.

Some PRC's and classes do require application and/or IC actions, but if it doesn't say an application is required in the restricted classes and races thread, then you are free to take it once you meet the requirements.

          *bows* thanks.

What do you mean by a cap at level 5 and growing day by day?

I saw on the stats page a good number are level 30. Is this info inaccurate or outdated then?

Anyone who is level 30, to my knowledge, is a DM controlled character lol.

You start at level 3 on this server, with a level cap of five. Then after a few days the level cap goes up to 6, then a few days and 7,... 8......9... etc. etc. until it hits 15.

Edit : Honestly, I thought I was really going to dislike this server because of the fact that I couldn't easily hit level 30 and be 'epic' 'omg I transform into a dragon' 'lolz'. Not to mention that back when I played NWN1 I mostly played more action oriented servers. When I gave this server a chance though and really got in to the community, that didn't matter at all. The RP and the atmosphere and the people here are so great that the other stuff didn't matter. I mean I've been here for almost 4 months now and my highest level character is level 7. (Granted I had 1 character hit level 8 but during a partial rollback a few months ago he lost those 2 levels and some gear, and I just decided not to bother the DM's with fixing it for me since they have better things to do.)

I should note that my highest level character isn't 7 due to slow level caps, his cap is 15 along with about 12 other characters of mine, I just don't grind/fight very often. I spend more time RP'ing.

Nice to know, and thanks for the informative response. So far it seems you and the community here are very friendly, which is a plus. I'm definitely looking forward to hopping in-game soon as the updater is finished. Its taking fairly long, which to me is good because that means more files which indicates alot of work and effort being put into the server. You don't want a server where theres only one pwc and its 5mb in size LOL. Perhaps our characters will cross paths in-game sometime, if they do I'll buy you a drink or two at the tavern.

If you want to donate $100 to the server, I'm sure Saulus would be willing to disable them for a month or two.

ECL races require the player wins RPOTM.

Some of the PRCs, like the Dreadmaster and Thayan Knight, require DM permission. If you ask about a particularly PRC, we will let you know.

I really, really wish someone would create a stats page with this kind of information. Oh, wait:

As I said, if you wish to fund our bandwidth and equipment costs we'd be more than happy to remove the ads for a time.

The stats page isn't dependable for the level information, since it counts DM test-based characters and what not. It was stated by Saulus in another thread that there are no player-controlled characters past 15th level yet, though the stats page would suggest otherwise.

This isn't a knock on the stats page, which I actually like... it's just the fact of the matter.

...743 characters active in just the last 30 days?! Then how come I've only met about ten?!

And welcome to Sundren! Seems like there's a lot of newbies (like me) lately. Or is this just always the case?

And I like the statistics page, especially Races. ECL pre-approval races aside, it shows that people on this server don't screw around and choose all Sun Elves or something supposedly rare. Humans take up 47% of the population - as it should be.

What's the problem? Just ignore everything past level 15.

Stats 2.0 will add more features, and implement ways to filter the test characters... if Kangleton quits complaining.

There will be people over level 15 soon enough anyways. I know of a few people who are close. It'll be another eternity until 17, though.
