Well, I got a load of 1st ed. books as hand me downs, so I played that initially, and then later on I actually forked out the cash for some 2nd ed. books! Mostly I was never that big into D&D, and prefered other systems (the concept of online PWs is what's brought me back to it). I've never played 3rd ed. p&p (I own a couple of sourcebooks, but no rulebooks), and I don't plan on buying 4th.

Does that mean there are going to be shows like "Dragon Eye for the Dice-less Guy"?
            Characters:
Peridan Twilight, one-eyed dog of the Legion, deceased.
Daniel Nobody, adventurer and part time problem solver.

            [DM] Poltergeist :

I have never played pnp and certainly never will.

However, as I understand it, pnp gave us Ed and Salvatore. Because of this, it shall always have my respect.

                I don't larp either.

                  Ha! I'm the best one.

I'm the biggest nerd I know in my area, but I parade around as a regional rugby champion, and a juvenile delinquint who has been expelled from two schools, arrested twice, and suspended 88 times (I think).

I probaly know all the rules and hidden nuggets of the various incarnations of Dungeons and Dragons since it was known as Chain Mail. Now there are things I may have forgotten, or don't remember so well, but I will admit that my brain is about 10% Dungeons and Dragons, with the wife and family taking up a respectable 9%. I still have most of my old treasured basic sets and the original DM's guide and PHB for 2nd edition, as well as unearthed arcana and some other cool oldies.

When it changed ownership from TSR to WOtC, I kind of stopped regulary playing Pen and Paper sessions. However the future for DnD is online gaming in it's various forms. At least thats how I see it headed.

The one person that I think has around the same level of my Nerd-super-grey-matter on the topic of Dungeons and Dragons is probaly Sean. Just check the DnD trivia thread, that bastard knew alot. Much harder questions for him next time!

Yeah, I have been playing P&P for a while now, but I am not sure about 4th edition. I heard some weird rumor hat the barbarian is getting meshed in with the fighter.Bye bye Dorm. . .

I've been playing PnP with two close friends of mine for a few years now, but beyond that, I don't mention it at all. I'm like an in-the-doorway-D&D-nerd..
Pff, no way I'm paying for 4th edition. I'm sticking with 3.5 for a couple more years at least. And I kinda know my stuff, enough to DM every now and then.

I know enough to DM and play (with 3.5 rules) and have enough books or other sources (mostly digital books) but I have no one to actually play with. I have a few friends I want to con in to playing it, but only two of them would be mildly receptive to it and two people + 1 DM doesn't seem like it would work very well.

Small groups can be fun Jaeram. And, also, once people hear about how much fun it is, they'll want to play too (they're probably secretly curious ).

I play PbP on both here:

                                http://www.myth-weavers.com

                                and here:

That is how I get my fix.
