I didn't get to post concerning the powerbuilds; therefore, I am making my own thread, LOL.
First, Mach, you do bite!
Second, the reason the guy probably took one level in sorcerer and one level in cleric is the whole scroll thing. He now can use most magical and divine scrolls, since he took one level of those classes.
He can use mage armor, shield, protection from evil....scrolls
He can use Bless weapons and such scrolls
I predict that is why he did it. Before the patch, if you took one level in Bard, you could use any scroll available; however, with the patch, now you can only use scrolls that are within your magical sphere.
Anyway, if you have an RP reason, then I say go ahead and build it, but you better damn well RP the build. I don't take anything lower than a 10 and take levels for an RP reason. My Bard took one level of fighter because he was sucked into the Neverwinter wars and became a mercenary before he turned back to music and magic.
My ranger was a musician and budding bard before his tree village was burnt to the ground by a marauding band of Orcs. He therefore turned from his first passion and dedicated his life to the forest and eradicating Orcs and their kind. You can see him do that most effectively if you visit Viridale from time to time.
Sorry for the long post and the opening of another "powerbuild" post, you can now bite me Mach
