Yeah, I've watched that happen to Peridan, not just with him though but a few others that tend to hang out with him too (thought I only know of 1 other for sure by name, I've seen them multiple times). I'm just surprised the DM's haven't noticed them yet, maybe they will due to this thread, but if they have and spoke to them, I don't think they listened.

Edit - I mean I'm all for giving people second chances and stuff, but when I see it for a week it's kind of hard to ignore, I've just been running away from it lately and finding something else to do because there's not much more I can do.

If you see a person or group of persons doing that on a regular basis or even twice, tell a DM, LOL. How are they going to know if nobody says anything? Send the DMs a PM if you need to so that they can take corrective action.

One of their jobs is to make sure server rules are adhered to for the most part, so let them take care of it instead of just walking away disgusted. That way we can weed out the people that do this on a regular basis.

I suppose that's true lol, I'll send them a PM next time I see them doing it. Although it's probably going to be a pain to monitor them long enough to know lol.

I warned them that I would notify a DM, and waited to see if they changed. They didn't, so it brought me to me next course of action:

Taking a screeny of the exact comment mentioned earlier. Actually, it was Rigrin, but I'm hoping for the best =)

I might have ended up taking his head off with my scythe, just as an accident...Samael is Chaotic Neutral, after all

I've done my best to stay out of this discussion because I want our player base to defend themselves the notion that Sundren is or is not a stellar roleplaying server. However, the above comment resonated within me.

I think you're right. Players do want to be the mighty hero or a nefarious villain. But perhaps more than that, they want to be special and unique.

Personally, I'm quite the opposite. All of my characters, PCs and NPCs, are typically imperfect, and blatantly so. My PC was probably the rudest character yet, with his scathing verbal insults, and my NPCs are very often ugly, dirty, fat, stupid, or misguided. I hope players see the appeal in that, or at the very least give their perfect characters motives, history, family, etc. After all, it is a character.

It's refreshing when I see players note in their bio that they're ordinary farmers or shopkeepers. Not every character has to originate as a Lord with amnesia, an Archwizard's slave, or the long lost heir to a family fortune. Let your in-game performance make you a legend, not a history you made up before you even entered the world.

I will agree with you LH, I think it's the reason I've never made a paladin yet, lol, because I know it would probably affect the way I RP with it. I try to think up interesting histories for my characters if I'm not going to give them social vexes (like Orrick being an orphan or my evil character being a trader). Though I have seen some really amazingly role played characters on this server with some of those problems. So kudos to them.

I've tried to avoid divine classes, such as cleric, paladin and druid: I would have absolutely no idea how to RP them, and doubt if I would enjoy doing so.

The problem, I think, is that only a minority of people actually enjoy playing characters with, say, serious social vices. It means your character makes few IC friends, and you have to step carefully around that griefing line when it comes to conflict. I will admit that I do not enjoy playing such characters.

However, I agree that, though having a background like a banished prince or the apprentice to an Archwizard can be a refreshing difference from the generic dwarven fighter from clan xxxxx, making a too detailed background can actually be a bad thing.

Hey, my character was an archwizards slave. He was a prince that hit his head, forgot his identity, lost a fortune, and ended up as an archwizards slave. He impressed the wizard and was then tutored and thus should have started as a 15th level wizard! (LOL).

As to my post concerning DMs, that was based on previous experience as a DM for three years on an NWN1 server. One of our jobs was to make sure there were no blatant rule breaking and such.

And I do understand how hard it can be, especially when you are busy running rps and such to know what else is going on.

You also fall into the he said, she said if you arrive after the complaint has been filed. It puts a DM in a difficult situation because you still play characters and want to interact with the player base.........can be tricky.

All we'd have to do is tear down that stupid tree Karthus is always tying himself to, and we can use the tree itself to build part of the tavern, it'll be like it never left, just... changed forms. Since I haven't seen him tied to it lately that must mean it's okay right?
I think that, in my absence, an NPC of Karthus should spawn whenever someone gets within 5 feet of that tree, and he should be immediatly hostile to the invader. Please? <3

...Furthermore, there is nothing wrong with characters that aren't obscenely normal. Nobody plays in a fantasy world to be normal! Why be a farmer in NWN? I live in Canada. I could be a farmer in real life, if that is what my heart most desired. My heart doesn't desire that. My heart desires some pretty strange, fantastical things - NWN is a pretty strange, fantastical game; but not when I'm playing a mundane Canadian farmer. However, playing the "perfect" person should be a no-no. Playing a person who thinks he's a perfect person... well, thats better. Thats funny.
