Well, now that we've all expressed our views on the matter, I'd like to ask how much exp are we looking at from quests?

Sundren's Roadmap

I think the overall problem you are seeing here is that NWN2 lacks MP, thats the truth. There are very few servers out there that have a high standard, and are well developed. Now here you have lots of players comming from the hundereds of different types of nwn1 servers comming to nwn2 to see only a few nwn2 servers, and which most of them are RP. So here you have people comming from many backgrounds of playing, that being they are grinders, hardcore Rp's, casual, ect.
So I can only imagine how hard it must be for the Sundren staff to make everyone happy.

In regards to this road-map Sundren has, is it yet clear how soon we can expect a full crafting system implemented, with item costs and all that made visible? Or, is it already implemented, and I haven't noticed...Pyras: Red Wizard of Thay, High Arcanist of Illusion, Master of the Enclave's Knight Commander.

Actually, a fighter can get weapon finesse at level one, same as a ranger or any other character that has a high AB.
It is the medium and low AB characters that do not get weapon finesse until level 3. A rogue or a bard or monk that are based on dexterity have to wait until level 3, the next feat level, to be able to take weapon finesse. Yes, they can use a bow or crossbow, but that is not the point. The creators decided on level 3 and I actually like it at level 3.
And the remark that you can just make some skanky barn or basement with rats, where is the fun in that? Also, you take away from the rest of the beautifully created world. If you want to just bash rats until you make a level, what is the difference between that and just taking levels?
The better solution, if they went down this path, would be to have a number of low level quests that explain the world and everything in it to give you the first couple levels. And, there is a quest system in the works.
I prefer starting at 3rd level, BTW.

This started off as a discussion of what is planned in terms of development, and initially as a comment on the encounter level of areas being focused on currently. I too would like to ask about the development of low level areas.
A friend and I have recently started playing here regularly afternoons GMT time, and after a couple of weeks spent walking backwards in three small areas we are already beginning to get a little bored. Yes, we prefer RP, but there is only so much you can do there within such a small number of areas. Yes, we RP with anyone we come across and party when we can, but there are generally few players on and then usually several levels above. Occasionally we see a DM come online, but they are not very active then. We're not expecting they should be at our beck and call, far from it, but if the server relies on DM granted XP then it's limiting when they are not around.
We are forced into grinding the same areas, not because we wish to level quickly or because we want quick gold, but because there is little else to do. Though we are not objecting to the death system, it does mean you cannot run the risk of higher areas lightly as a low level. The gold needed to be resurrected would take forever to raise at that level. My rogue has already used one signus as a result of being accidentally knocked behind that secret door. (just too close to the opening when it shut unexpectedly).
I would add support to the initial reply to this thread that yes, there needs to be more lower level areas to hold interest until you can 'safely' progress to view others.
The abscence of scripted quests is also limiting. I know they take time to put in place, I've been a builder on two PWs and am well aware of how much time development can take, but for that very reason I would suggest if the PW is to sustain the interest of casual players then they are also needed quickly. Complex ones take a while, but simple go fetches and bounty quests really do not take much scripting.
I would like to add that the server is very nicely built in terms of landscape, and the player we have come across have generally been pleasant and fun to interact with. Generally we are finding the place fun, I hope that it can develop into something great.

i agree with vanya mia.and in the same boat as her/him.
please dont get me wrong. i think this server is great and the dm and players are great. but after a week of playing i find having only the goblin cave in the hills to explore is getting a bit repetitive.
i have gone with some higher level ppl to the forest but i tend to die alot there and the people there are that high a level that the experiance give is decreased.
im not a farmer. and im not a grinder. im new to the role playing but i do try and its quiet fun. but i also like to go out and fight.
you said that you were going to make more higher level area's but i cant help wonder that more players and new characters would be at earlier stages in the game.
im not saying make more begininer area's, but we need some area's for levels inbetween the ones you have already.
maybe increase the experiacne drop rate might help people move on from lower area's more quickly but i belive you stated in other threads that wasnt going to happen.

Nothing in Sundren is really "easy" but keep in mind that it is an RP server, feel free to chat around a fire for a couple of hours and soak up the experience you get not fighting, there are also quite a few fetch and carry type quests out there that don't involve fighting. Exploring is another good way to get experience. Just keep at it and you'll find that it won't be long till those goblins don't seem so scary

Unf. Necropost.
I'm wondering what Sundren's current roadmap is, as this thread is very outdated. What are the main priorities right now? I understand the server remains in Beta after it's expected release, so what's needing completion prior to launch? Is there an ETA on these priorities?Pyras: Red Wizard of Thay, High Arcanist of Illusion, Master of the Enclave's Knight Commander.

There's a few obstacles, but primarily, it's finishing the factions. This means making join quests as well as stores. Stores are almost there--we just need motivated low-level devs (me) to finish the tasks. Join quests are being writen as we speak, but will take time to implement."Microsoft has to move the Reply All button further away from the Reply button. Hard to make any kind of estimation when working with volunteer teams. The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

That's fair. Can I ask what's in store in terms of maps? I noticed some old maps were being aesthetically reworked, so is that the current goal? Or are entirely new maps on the way?Pyras: Red Wizard of Thay, High Arcanist of Illusion, Master of the Enclave's Knight Commander.
