I have just reached high enough level in shadow dancer to be able to summon a shadow. Now my question is this, in PnP a shadow summoned by a shadow dancer is supposed to have the same alignment as the one who summoned it. In NWN2 however it is always Chaotic Evil. What?s the official stand on this? Would it be ok to ignore the lazy way obsidian implemented the shadow and still say that it is not evil even though the game states that it is?

Shadows are evilSacrifice everything as the final darkness falls... in the end, all that awaits you is death. Only then will you understand - you've been following in my footsteps all along.
So come then, you heroes! Come in all your power and glory! For in the final hour, all must serve the one... true... king.

Yep, I have a shadow dancer (not here though) Fun stuff trying to explain that it is YOUR shadow you are summoning and not some herald of the Hells.
Safe bet, anything with the word 'summon' in it.... do not do it unless in combat.~Lyonette L'cyr (Rook)-- Deader than Malaclypse

If what's bugging you is that you don't want to be captured by an over-zealous paladin, you could always RP that it's the same alignment as you, if you do get caught. Then they can cast detect evil on you, rather than on your shadow.
But Darkened Blade has a point, you can't expect the paladin to know that, and therefore it should be argued IC.Val Evra - Wandmaker and Wanderer

Shadows are down as undead in the monster manual, in Sundren necromancy is illegal so really you should summoning shadows unless you want the Paladins on you.Currently playing:
