  • Two questions:

    One...

I chose the wrong god when It came time to create my character. Is it possible to change or should I just RP the right god?

    Two...

I'd like to post some RP on the forums, but it involves a lie critical to my character's RP. I'm guessing there are no impediments to people metagaming and using that information that they wouldn't know. Would it be best if I just keep the RP private?

    Thanks for the input.

I'd say do whatever you want to do, everything seems fine to both of those... but you might as well ask a dm to change your deity if you see them online. Otherwise, I don't see any problem

      One:

If I were a DM and you were level 3, I would tell you to reroll...but the DM's of Sundren may have more mercy than I

      Two:

If the lie is "in-character", and it is a *crucial part* of your RP, then it should probably be done in game, to allow people to roll Bluff/Etc checks. Most critical RP should be left out of the forums, from my understanding, especially if its "game-breaking" RP (like, omgz, my character is actually an envoy from Thay sent to inspect the goings-on of the Red Wizards....thats WAY out there, and I don't expect the DM's to allow many characters like that ). Also, if it is "game-breaking" in the sense that it could effect more than just your character and possibly involve factions in Sundren, you *must* notify the DMs. They can get particularly angry when you play in their sandbox and don't ask nice ahead of time. I think I remember one DM saying "I've got plenty of unbridled rage." Hah! You do have to understand their point of view though- imagine how you would feel if you were writing a script to a movie or play or TV show and then suddenly someone random came in before production and added a whole new scene. You should give them a heads up.

If it is a "lie" in the sense that your character is "lying" to himself...maybe a little delusional, then it could go into his journal because he honestly believes it to be the truth. Most of the time, from my understanding, the Role-Play forum is used to provide characters or people general knowledge about your character, or providing them with "static information", which simulates "word-of-mouth". If your character lies frequently, then the lie might be perpetuated in the "word-of-mouth", perhaps with a comment or two that would belie its dubious nature.

      Claro amigo?

        With point number one, thanks.

Point number two, it's more of a lie about his past. I'll ask a DM, thanks!

Personally I have seen its best to keep your second question out of forums and just in game. Posting and reading character stories is great, but if some of the info can really mess you up because Joe Schmoe doesent understand its ooc knowlage and spreads it around, not good. Seen it happen.
Sacrifice everything as the final darkness falls... in the end, all that awaits you is death. Only then will you understand - you've been following in my footsteps all along.
So come then, you heroes! Come in all your power and glory! For in the final hour, all must serve the one... true... king.

It's a game, stuff like that can be easily recouped by pretending it didn't happen
Of course, it's probably best if you mark it beforehand making it clear in your post, or take Scourn's suggestion (probably the best one actually) and not post at all.
