  • Appraise?

Do the merchants in the module actually take a character's appraise score into account? From what I have been able to see, it doesn't appear so. If that's true, would it be possible to fix this?

As far as I've seen, Appraise is indeed quite useless at the moment. Maybe I'm blind, too. :P

It does seem to make a difference. There's no apraise check rolled, but I have the ring that boosts your appraise score, and a given merchant will give me different prices depending on whether I'm wearing it or not.

I'm pretty sure it's hardcoded you just might not see the message popup. If I have time later I will take a look.

I remember in nwn1 if you set the markup and markdown for a merchant too close, and you rolled really good on your appraise you could sell for more then it cost you to buy the item back. Wonder if they fixed that.

It's not that there's no message - it's just that I've noticed that even after gaining points in appraise, there's no change. I also made a character who had an intelligence of 8 with no appraise who got the same prices as my character with +7 appraise.

I've seen the message pop up, but also it can be used with player interaction should you decide to sell or purchase something between players.

"gives an appraising on the shield" etc, and perhaps you can bargain accordingly.

Appraise works as long as the store is opened with appraise script, which I think is the default. It rolls the merchant's appraise versus the player's and the difference is used for the markdown.
