Good points, but there are people out there who do take it seriously and do get offended ooc. Then theres the parents of younger players who may see such rp'ing and take offence themselves.

Why cater to them? This is an RP server, not a political rights server. That is their problem to deal with, and if they cause a fuss, then it's their right to leave, or be removed if their OOC beliefs are causing a disruption to other players. Being exposed to things you do not agree with is a choice and if they do not like it, it is their choice to leave. As far as the parents, the game is rated Teen and if the kid is playing it then, again, it's the fault of the parents that their kid gets exposed to things that they don't want their kid exposed to. There's also far worse out there, though if I had to speak my mind I'd say that the parents of said children are not being good parents if they try and keep their child blinded to the realities of the world. Though that's not really on topic.

A very easy way of fixing this... would be simply write up a terms and agreement type ordeal... make them agree to it saying they're over 18 or 21 or whatever.

Then their name is posted on a 18 -21 or over list. Players who wish to pursue relationships IC can pick from that list and talk to that player directly about it assuming their characters are actually growing on each other.

This way Sundren nor its developers can be legally held accountable for any crap. Which I don't see happening anyway.

And we can stop this "oh we can't possibly do this or that for reasons that we can easily fix". As for the reasons of people that are over the age... well they can do what they want.

You can keep your romance light or not, if you can't ask the other player in OOC chat what level they'd like to pursue then make sure you avoid ordering fast food because you can't be very good at that either.

I probably explained myself wrongly. Males playing female characters will never take offense when someone's not P-Correct with them because there is a 0% chance they will take offense OOCly, simply since they are not part of the fair gender. And I know it sounds really retarded, but I have seen OOC drama rise because of such stupidities in NWN1, and to me beyond-friendship relationships on RP servers just aren't interesting not only for that reason but all those mentionned before.

I'd turn that around and say 'no obvious cybering'. Sex is a part of life and it can't be ignored sometimes, and it does lead to character development ('fading to black' can ruin chances for the intimacy of the relationship. Sex can be a place where you can see different aspects of a person's personality come out that they might not regularly show). That being said, such a thing should be kept purely to private mediums such as tells or even, as Aux said, an out-of-game instant messenger program. One can't pick and choose aspects of a character to RP, IMO, ignoring some parts just because they might be 'taboo'. Let alone the fact that killing, which quite a lot worse on a moral scale, is trivialized in games like this to being completely normal, while sex is some dark and dirty thing, which is just silly.

Though I know I'm probably one of the only ones who think this way.

Meh, I see the topic as just bringing to light what we all already know.

In the end, do whatever makes the game fun for you and doesn't get in everyone's way. If you want to go be in a relationship, go do it. If you want to be bisexual/lesbian, it's really nobody elses business. A power built RDD bugs me WAAAAAAAAAY more than how people RP relationships. However, if you get in a flighty relationship and start putting it above your dark god of doom, expect your dark god of doom to cut that off quick

Since RDD is approval only now, I might just remove the 1 sorc/1 bard requirement if I can. It's silly with the way NWN implements the class.
