  • Griefing

Allow me to refresh the minds of people who have been roleplaying too long to remember what text book griefing is....

It is an act of pvp nature involving keeping another character in the "Dead" status as long as possible and doing everything within their power to keep them dead.

Now I know someones going to come along and give some other long winded version of griefing, but for most of us this version is by far the most annoying and well known. This being said allow me to elaborate with a few examples of what is griefing and what isn't...

    What isn't griefing...

You and your buddies see a nice fat wanted Poster with some poorly drawn female elf on it with the the title "Sylloven and a thousand stag reward". It says very dangerous, extreme caution.

You and your buddies go out to hunt said vampy... now heres where common sense comes into play. As the player of Sylloven I do know for a fact I never attack first and 50% of the time I just try to run away. Why? Because its well known that after a while of losing battles people will begin to whine about "griefing".

This is in fact far from the truth, if you attack Sylloven and she casts invisibility... and you use listen to catch her... and she runs away... throws down a grease spell.. goes invis again...and you repeat this process against her 2 more times.

If she turns around and kills everyone with some greater firebursts and disentigrations and you have attacked her earlier that day and died as well. DO NOT come to me saying its griefing or anything remotely close, I will laugh.

At some point after trying to escape 3 times and using 6 different spells and WALKING AWAY to give you AMPLE time to realize she doesn't want to fight, if she just turns around and kills everyone then you've brought this on yourself.

Attacking vampire sorcerers will not leave you with your dignity intact... you have been warned. Especially if I try to make it obvious by escaping.

    What is griefing....

I repeatedly search for your character and walk up using true strike disintegrations upon you with no roleplay involved at all. I use that spell specifically because I know you can't be raised by any normal means. I do this 6 or 7 times at least. ((Even though 1 time should be enough reason to report to a DM... unless the person you griefed was a DM.. *coughs* ... bad memory. I luv u GBX!!))

Remember this in the future, storming a vampire manor or castle or running around with your pitchforks and torches... in the remote areas of the world... is about as sane as myself and Hadavi storming the Triumvate itself. USE COMMON SENSE.

That is all, sorry for typos.

Yes, fair enough, i used the wrong word in a previous post.. bad me for not being up on the technical jargon of online game playing.

To cause grief and to give someone a good griefing is also slang where i live for hassling someone.

Ah ha! Well of course... thanks! Im going to shout "I pwn you!" at the missus when i beat her at Backgammon, im sure she will appreciate it. I can also watch the South Park World of Warcraft episode again and know what they are on about this time.

"How can we kill that which has absolutely no life?!?"... brilliant.

YEah Undeadsteak, what you did actually was griefing, not an accusation. I was there watching you do it

In fact, I'm going to close this and post on this topic to bring up awareness since we have alot of new people who don't know the rules that well or what we expect.
