  • Starting at the Gate of the Sunderer

If the player picks this option as his method of arrival a long and boring walk awaits him which may cause frustration and an initial, negative reaction against the server.

You should either drop this option or add some content (merchants, NPC conversations) to the area.

Content is planned for this area. An inn and a wizard's shop is just the first part.

I agree that will help alot, new players may think by the way the entrance to the server world has little to no content that there is not much elsewhere. You might want to have an NPC that greets you at the beginning with info about the world.

There is a detailed OOC area sign and a journal entry for new players on how to get started. Aside from hitting the player with a giant sign that screams "READ ME!" I do not know how to educate people.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

I think its set up fine, I'm just letting you know what I've heard in game from new players. I've been playing since the original NWN, its the players with no experience and little observation skill that need a helping hand.

There's a very nice sign now in the log in area which explains a few things about the server. One of which is that it's in beta, and if certian areas seem empty, it's because they just haven't been developed yet.

Starting at port Avanthyr would be a good idea imo because the long walk from the gate of the sunderer takes up a little too much time. You can't choose to port back to your original location because sometimes its in the middle of a dungeon where you last logged off.
