  • Persistent Trap functionality

In a pending update which will occur sometime tonight or tomorrow there will be new persistent trap functionality in the Spittlefist Caves Level 1... If things go well I will deploy it on all traps everywhere from now on.

This will allow rogues to disarm traps or people to trigger traps, and they will now disappear until respawning after a period of time.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

This is good news. Not having to deal with traps that keep goign on. But i'd suggest very hard to spot and deadly traps and like, once a trap is used, monsters come rushing.. Because, otherwise your average fighter doesnt need a rogue, and can simply go around with his high hp triggering everything..

Nonlethal traps, such as a tripwire with a bell attached to it, will probably be put in later

Well just as an update on this we're still working on doing the code for this system more efficiently to avoid lag (currently this code is disabled)... Hopefully we'll get to finishing this soon.

Wait, with the whole lag thing:
We expect this to be solved, or at least worked at in MOTB, right? Right!?

No, it'll be fixed AFTER MotB. Atari demanded single player be focus up until that point, so there hasn't even been heavy testing and development on multiplayer aspect. However, after the release, they will be focusing on PW primarily which means we will see TONS of changes and additional features just for us.

Thank God for that, and thanks for the quick reply. But with MotB will there be some kind of added poop to the PW aspect? (i.e. increase in level-cap, addition of the other prestigious classes, etc etc.)

New Races, Air ginasi or however you pronounce it.
New classes, like Red Wizards of Thay.
                  New Level Cap, of 30.
                  New Tilesets and placeables.
                  New Creatures and models.
                  The list goes on.

                  So yeah, it'll upgrade PW's.

. . . . Where have you been Nutranurse? Theres been so much discussion of classes, level caps, spells, and the such. Of course it'll help PWs .
