Notice of Warning - Hacked Characters

I won't tell you how to do this, but people have been hacking characters for play and it has come to our attention. I would like to state that you will not be able to get away with this. We have a validator in the background that notifies us of these situations. You will lose your character and you will be banned from the server. Don't even attempt it. Play by the rules and no harm will befall you young jedi.

So could someone tell me what a 'hacked' character is?.. using cheats and such? Why does it lag the server?
Ive come across wall-hacks on fps, is it a similiar principle?

I just dont get why someone would hack a rpg character, i can see the point in an online fps... ownage and stats and all that cobblers... enlighten me

By the way using cheats and hacks really does suck, its never sat well with me, even using something as simple as a 'money-cheat' in Grand Theft Auto defeats the whole idea IMO... sad.

Think of it as a bully mentality. These people tend to want to feel "Mightier" than everyone else around them without the effort needed to earn it. It's the same people who asks for severely overpowered races like "Can I be a demon?" or special considerations for their characters.

To me it's more fun to actually have a challenge in things done. If everything is just handed to you in a game, it gets boring quick.

The one that always ticked me off a number of years ago was the hacked characters/items that too many people used on the online Diablo sites. Nothing like Player Killers sitting by a spawn point with hacked items drilling you as soon as you appeared. Just a very petty way to make yourself feel "oh so powerful" I guess.

I mean if you want an uber powerful demon character, apply to become a DM. Then you get to kill all the PCs you want with the most obscenely powerful combinations possible.

^_^, Lets hope those applications fail. Becoming a DMing just so you can play an uber char and Player kill? Not what i want in a dm.
