  • Upcoming Open Beta Expectations

I just want to clarify a few things about the open beta for everyone.

    Do expect:

    - Several scripted quests
    - A few shops for all the basic needs a player has
    - DM interaction
    - Exploration
    - Social Areas

    Don't expect:

    - Every feature we've discussed so far
    - To see everything we've been working on in plain view
    - 100s of areas

One thing I would like to stress to people is in some areas will have a very high level of polish while others may not. Now don't confuse that with blank, boring, dull areas that are a common complaint with many of the PWs out so far, but rather take that as an expectation that everything will be improving overall each time an update is released.

I have not yet decided if there will be a character wipe after the beta. This all really boils down to if we see any inconsistencies with loot drops or items (Which is unlikely). But I am forewarning regardless as sometimes it is a nessacary step.

The Open Beta will be essential in stress testing our new server as well as highlighting any immediate needs for the server and our community. We want you to have a unique experience with a PW that you won't get anywhere else, and we already have a great forum community that will help us reach that goal.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

To further iterate upon Saulus' post.

We will be constantly updating the server with new areas as well as content after it's public. This will also include revisions to current areas. You may be on one day and the next the layout of the server has changed a great deal.

Our Design forums are filled with many future areas and content that won't be in at the release of the public server.

All sounds very reasonable since it is in fact a beta, that has had in my opinion, has been produced admirably fast.
The problem with the future is that it keeps turning into the present.

In voice chatting with some of the developers, not only are they working hard, but they sound like they're having fun (with the occasional verbal jab or ten). I can definitely tell that guys like Saulus and GodBeast just want to get it up and working right in order to minimize issues the first time around. The beta test will surely be a large part of that. That can only spell success.

Are the characters we make permanent or do they get removed as soon as the beta is over ? Still wondering and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere

So far the reply from the dev's is hopefully not, but it is a possibility.

EDIT:GodBeastX you beat me to it by about a second!

I've never participated in a beta before. Will the designers be expecting input from us commonors, or will you simply be monitoring the activity?

At any rate, it is exciting to be participating in a brand new world that is newly created. Rock on!

We encourage everyone to remain active on the forums and give us valuable constructive feedback on the module overall. Of course the DMs will all be there to help everyone on their way.
