I wanted to share a frustration I have with monk speed as a way to apologize to any future party I find myself in. One of the absolute advantages to playing a monk is the speed bonus, which to my knowledge stacks with Dash, Expeditious Retreat, and Woodland Stride, etc. A monk can really get moving.
The down side to having monk speed is noticed most when in party. This is due mostly to game mechanics. Each character or NPC in game has a lit circle around their character. I mostly ignore this visual queue, but in tight spaces we all know that you cannot bypass someone else’s personal space. We typically notice this when one member of the party stands in the door and no one else can get past. Or, when an NPC spawns an animal friendly that is huge in size… thus blocking anyone’s progress in a narrow corridor.
For these reasons I find it best to either play from the front or the back of the group. If my monk is in the middle and a door opens, he will find himself running past his team mates only to cause walk mesh problems, etc. No one likes someone who pushes their way to the front all of the time, which is why I move to trail end many times in party.
Again… I apologies up front.
Cheers!
