I've played some of the more notorious "asshole" characters in the past, such as Tigen Amastacia. But, I never took any of it with me OOC, and I usually responded to anything happening, even the stupid stuff, as IC as I could. That being said, I can say that any of my characters, both good and likely most of the neutrals, would react to seeing a Balor in one of two ways: Run from it, or murder the crap out of it. If someone defended it, run from/murder them too. Because, if you are good aligned and you do anything with a demon that is hanging around the second wind inn besides run from it or kill it, you aren't good. Or sane.

Good people never walk up and go "Oh, hiya mister giant winged fire creature of death, how are you today? Nice weather, huh?" They either go "Nope, screw this, running away and never stopping." or they go "Foul creature of hell, prepare to be sent back from where you came!" Or something along that vein. If you don't, that's your thing, but don't just leave it alone because "It might be a DM and an event." Because if it's happening out in public for everyone to see, then you are fully within your rights and SHOULD interfere in whatever way you see fit.

This is a game, and is meant to be fun. And killing demon's is fun. However, what is NOT fun is seeing a bunch of people completely halt all their normal RP their character would follow in order to cater to someone who want's something to be a special snowflake for thirty minutes. Don't change your RP just because it might be a DM. That's the time to actually EMBRACE your RP and show that you can stick to your character's guns in any situation.
Tigen Amastacia: Died in events so you didn't have to.

Quintin Ulsteris: Nice-guy Legion engineer, deceased son of House Ulsteris.

Clandriel Cain: AKA "Fire-eyes" AKA "Demon hunter" AKA "OH MY GOD, WHY IS HE STILL STABBING ME!!??"

I'm with Torgar on this one: if it's there and you can see it, unless a DM specifically tells you to "Move along, nothing to see here" *, it's happening IC and the only inappropriate responce is ignorance.

Even if that response is: Option C - start studying the thing so you can properly kill it/report it/ask it to be friends/beg it not to kill you/figure out if you actually have a chance in hell of outrunning those giant wings of fire and brimstone.

*-Yes, there are times where an event co-ops a map for a location that doesn't exist. The Second Wind is never one of those places.

      Unfortunate truths:
Intention: [DM > Crafting > Faction Store > Drop > Regular Store]

I've recently saw a Balor chatting with a woman-with-a-tail at Second Wind Inn fire pit and did not immediately toggle them hostile. I think the sight of it led me to believe [at the time] it was a DM event.
Just to comment that if i see a Balor of any nature i'll:

1 - try to make some contact and apologize by the interruption and run...
        2- Just run...

think she was not wrong to try to argument with him.
