  • Revised Death Attack

Anyone know if the revised Death Attack is functional? I recall it wasn't working a while ago. It looks like it has been added as a feat but not usable yet - and not implemented in Assassin yet either.

Also, has anyone discovered if this revised Death Attack also adds a Sneak Attack damage roll? For example, would a level 5 Dark Hunter wind up with 2d6 SA or just 1d6 total?

Thanks in advance for anyone who's played with this.

Last I knew it was working better than intended and needed to be fixed.

Okay so I have a 5 Ranger 5 DH PC and as of right now death attack is functioning. I have used it against many NPC's so far, no PC's yet and it has worked to kill most of them off (my INT is really high) however the boss that actually saved, I did still roll an extra sneak attack damage.

However there seems to be issues getting it to work with ranged weapons. where as i am able to attack from near any angle with my scimitar and it works i have hit NPC's from behind at point blank, while sneaking, and gotten neither death attack nor sneak attack, although when I do the same without attempting death attack I get my sneak attack.

Have you been making sure that you are within range of hitting them with your bow? With ranged sneak attack, if you have lowlight vision, you can use that to determine if you are close enough. I've never had any issues with my death attack.

Bolded for emphasis. Sneak attack requires only that the attack originate from within 30ft, Death Attack requires that the attack be from a melee weapon. If the staff decides to alter this restriction, that's one thing. Maybe add a feat to allow ranged death attacks with a penalty.

As it stand now, however, it's working as intended.

@Onyx due to the double stack on my lowlight from being elven and DH i now have like a 60ft range. So that system may not work as well for me now. I have however gotten into near melee range and tried but it just turned into a regular attack instead of sneak/death

@poltergeist Okay I never saw that part, i was looking at it through DH and the darkwood stalker classes. As well as the in-game description. none of those really mention whether it has to be melee or not, so I assumed it could be ranged.

I'm pretty happy with Death Attack being melee only.

Well I guess it's a good thing i made my PC to be good in both melee and ranged, gotta love ranger base class.
