Greater Dispelling has always had a cap of +20 (check 1d20 +1 per caster level, max +20) in D&D both 3.0 and 3.5 edition. But in NWN1 & NWN2 this is arbitrarily capped at +15. Has Sundren adressed this disparity between game and PnP representation?

Greater Dispel still has it's OC cap of 15.
[edit]:Because making everyone and their friend's magical items permanently worthless just isn't any fun. Particularly when they can turn around and do it to you.
[edit#2]: And there are the occasional artifact, and having deities or other lvl30+ things popping out of nowhere to smite you, along with the potential for lost magical ability. . . . bad stuff

Personally I like the NWN version. In Pnp the +20 spell is balanced because you don't go into an adventure with 3-4 Greater dispels memorised. Also there are a LOT of cheesy ways to defend against being dispelled in Pnp....feats, magic items, dispel shields, counterspelling etc none of which are present in Sundren.
Being dispelled will completely wreck a caster. I'm not saying they shouldn't be dispellable, but you should at least have to hit a similar-level caster to you with 3-4 dispels to strip them of all their buffs, not 1-2 dispels.
If the spell is ever reverted back to +20 then I think we need a Greater Spell Girding feat and/or a Spellshield spell which blocks the first incoming dispel.UTC+8
Yes, I realise my RP writing sucks. Just be thankful I keep it short

Well, since we are talking about dispelling effects, does anyone know if Sundren corrected the bug where your character level is what matters instead of actual caster level when rolling against dispel?
As for the balancing part, well... Mord already wrecks you regardless since it has a built in Breach effect that instantly eats 6 of your protections. And the ones from the Breach list are pretty much the most powerful wards a mage has at his disposal. I guess the cap just makes Greater Dispel redundant as soon as Mord becomes available.Sareth

I'd be fine if they fixed it so that Greater Dispel Magic could be used as a single target against PvE mobs. As it stands, it can only be used as an area dispel, which is annoying.Tigen Amastacia: Died in events so you didn't have to.
