  • How does displacement and mirror image work here?

I was wondering if true seeing eliminates displacement and mirror image?
    How does it work?
I am guessing progression would go attacker rolls to attack mirror image(for instance:3 images) has a 25% chance to get right one then goes to displace (attacker rolls above a 50%), then if both are successful attacker then rolls vs defenders ac?

If true seeing does not work, does anything eliminate mirror and/or displacement?

By PnP rules, true seeing ignores mirror images, because they are illusions, and sees through displacement. I would imagine it was implemented properly in the game, but haven't tested it.

    The progression should be:
    1) Roll to see which target is targeted.
    2) Roll to see if target it hit. Caster has his AC, images have AC of 10+Dex mod
    3) If image is hit, it pops.
    4) If caster is hit, roll miss chance.

True seeing ignores both of those buffs effectively, so it would simply be attack rolls vs. AC.
I can't slow down, I can't hold back though you know I wish I could. No there ain't no rest for the wicked until we close our eyes for good!

Attacks against someone with double concealment are rolled against the % concealment before determining if it hits mirror image or the caster (as mirror image is considered an AC buffer by the game engine and is taken into account last).

A couple of abilities do remove concealment, like the purge that Doomguides of Kelemvor have, but base game True Seeing and Blindsight do not ignore it like in pnp. I wouldn't doubt that the custom spells Invisibility Purge and Zone of Revelation probably get rid of it, but I don't know offhand if that's the case.

That is so backwards. The mirror images should not have displacement on top of themselves, and both spells should be cancelled by true seeing. Is that another instance of Obsidian poochin' it?

Unfortunately so. :/ Both Mirror Image and True Seeing as they are in base game NWN2 are definitely not they way they should be. Obsidian took a lot of liberties when making it.

Informal, empirical testing reveals that mirror images actually share the caster's AC, or scale by some other formula. At high levels, they'll persist even when every attack that comes in is a value that should pop them instantly.

Thus, the two together, also available in potion form, are an absolutely tremendous boost to survivability.

Now selling, wands of mirror image and displacement! I use these spells all the time and it never occurred to me how ridiculous they are. I still don't see why true seeing would not see through illusions, as that is a large portion of its utility, but them's the breaks I guess.
