  • No More Sunburst?

Entered combat with Dryn and reached for his handy Sunburst spell, but it was gone!

Just up and vanished from his known spells. Anyone else noticing this? Staff, any thoughts as to why this happened?

What kind of caster is dryn? Is the spell no longer showing up in your spellbook? Or was it a selected spell of a spontaneous caster that is now gone? Or, is it a spellsot that became missing? Did your primary ability score for casting get reduced somehow? For example, did you pick up a cursed gem?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, but more information could help i think!

You don't lose a single spell from your spell's known list as a spontaneous caster if your stat drops. Your spells known is static and unchanging, only going up and down as you level. Spells per day can change, but not known. It's possible something got messed up and the spell was removed from the druid list by accident, thus removing it from Dryn's spell list as a spirit shaman. If so, that's something that the staff can fix, as sunburst is most definitely a druid spell.

If it sheds any light on the situation, the recent favored soul changes have resulted in spells vanishing from my spontaneous cast spell list on Lasvi, even after having a rebuild to cement the class changes in place. It appeared to have targeted spells at random towards the higher levels.

I don't recall spirit shaman's spells per day or total spells getting changed --- just sorceror and favored soul, if I remember correctly --- but it might be linked. Sorry if this doesn't help. :X

No, I think this has something to do with it.

Spirit shamans and Favored Souls have the same spell progressions. Dryn should have 5 known level 8 spells, but I only have 4 atm.

Maybe the level up system might still give the base NWN2 spontaneous caster amount of spells, and then a script runs afterwards to delete spells from the list to be in line with the changes? I'm completely ignorant on the coding used to make Sundren's new stuff, so this is all wild speculation.

The changes might be applying to spirit shamans as well as favored souls due to them both being spontaneous divine.

Favored soul spells known progression was changed, and lost 1 8th level spell per day I believe. these changes likely impacted spirit shaman as well. I would take a look at the update thread. The 'oracle' spell progression table is what is being used now.

I would link but I am typing this from my phone at work!!

The file that controls Favored Soul spells known is also referenced by Spirit Shamans. I didn't realize that at the time, which is why there were no notes on Spirit Shamans in the update.

Gotcha, but it is sounding like I should settle into this change? That it is, it was (or is now) intended by the dev team?

Probably. I could give you a quick relevel if you'd like to choose a different spell.

                      Naw, that's quite alright.

The 8th level druid spell selection is jam packed with goodness. The spells that remain are very much Dryn. If the staff deems the altered Spirit Shaman in line with the other classes, then I can't complain TOO much.

I just needed the point of order...felt like I was going out of my mind when it wasn't there. heh.
