  • Something Wrong with Feint?

Hey everyone I just started back on this server after a long break. I made a new rogue but I seem to be having a problem with feint as a feat. I will use it as an action ability on the target but even when I hit with it it does not seem to allow me to sneak attack. I've only had it work for me a couple of times, seemingly out of the blue. If any high level rogues out there might be able to give me some pointers on how to get this feat to work, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Just to give you guys some insight I have the feint and the skill focus bluff feats, and am currently working with a +12 bluff.

Do you have more than one attack per round?

No I don't. Is that the reason?

It shouldn't be. Feint, if successful, should grant you a Sneak Attack on the Feint itself, and any subsequent attacks in that turn should also be Sneak Attacks (contrary to the feat description).

Are you using Feint on unintelligent (0 Int) targets? Even if it hits, it shouldn't work against them.

I don't think you understand how Feint works.

Feint works on unintelligent targets because this game is ... This game.

In fact, you said the reason why it's not working yourself.

Feint applies feint to every subsequent attack that turn. If you don't have more than one attack per turn then you ... Don't get any feinted attacks off.

          To explain!

Feint itself isn't an attack. It's like knockdown. It just attempts to apply an effect. No actual attack associated with it.

Ideally it's supposed to flatfoot the enemy until the start of his next turn, but ... NwN2 does funky things with rounds and turns.

Apparently not! Sorry. Things get difficult when one can't trust the feat description.

Would using a second weapon overcome this problem at lower levels? Would the second attack for the off hand even go off?

                It ought to!

It does. The character I use Feint on is a dual-wielding Invis Blade. You can spam Feint each attempt counting as an attack in the round until you see a *Feint hit*, and after one hits then the rest of your attacks (as long as they're regular attacks) for that round count as Sneak Attacks.
