This Dark-level Warlock invocation (i.e. level 16+), does negative energy damage.

However, this negative energy damage appears to behave differently from every other form of negative energy damage in the game and does not heal undead.

I assume this is intentional due to the unlimited nature of warlock invocations?

Any chance of this changing in the future?

Does it just do nothing or does it damage them? If its half magical/half negative then it should cancel to zero effect.

Yes, I realise my RP writing sucks. Just be thankful I keep it short

At least according to both the NWN2wiki and Complete Arcane, it should do negative energy damage that heals undead. There's no mention of it being half-magical/half-negative.

Having used the spell on living folks, it does pure negative energy damage.

I've tested it a bit more thoroughly now:

On NPC undead (Cold Bones, Frozen Bones): Dealt actual damage despite being negative energy.

On PC Undead (Ruby): Did 0 damage.

I'll test it a bit more thoroughly on NPCs I know are undead, like a Death Knight summon, then post here again.

NwN2 handles negative energy a very strange way. Only 'Some' forms of it in a spell heal undead. I have had this problem before, on many spells. An example would be another time (Another server) A warlock had a 'chain' version of negative energy, it healed all undead, but his blasts, didn't- some even damaged them.

I know it stinks- a mage could polymorph into the undead creature (Night walker) and you could heal'em with it . Or, a vampire.

beyond the "inflict" spells negative energy effects just to 0 to undead. the "inflicts" and "harm" heal undead. Things like negative energy traps and those effects just do 0

It is supposed to heal them, but with DEV staff as slim as it is.. Unless this is an 'easy' fix, don't count on this being high on the list.

Yep, this is really in no way important. Plenty of other good Dark Invocations so I'm not stressing over it, just wanted to bring it up in case it was a simple quick fix.

                Thanks!
